Would I take my Aimpoint PRO over a $310 HS 510 or a $360 HS 512 or a $390 HS 510 Elite ?? Hell yeah. Aimpoint would win in every category that I care about on carpet with Legos or zombie apocalypse with cry baby terrorists.
Except features, weight, size and mount compatibility. No denying the PRO is a great value, but it pushes $500 these days. Plus, the PRO is big, and lacks nice to haves like circle dot, etc.

In times like these, if your HS fails outside during a serious SHTF Lego My Eggo scenario (maybe next year), make sure someone picks it up and sends it in for warranty work.

I know they are not bad at all, but to some people they still seem like the slight evolution of the garbage like the Sightmark Ultra Shot Pro Spec NV QD and that ilk polished up to hit a $300 street price and maybe last a few years.

I see the PRO and MRO even direct for around $445... that's before any discount codes, etc... I'd get it about $70 more than I got them in the past.

PRO is not any bigger than it needs to be... don't mount it on a pistol.

The circle dots and changeable reticles are a fun toy for the Livingroom or garage IMHO. Honestly, I find myself changing to a plain old dot on anything that can give me a plain old dot as an option (on pistols with Holosuns mostly).

Some of the prices you are quoting do not include a mount.

For me, personally, circle dot is where it's at. But that's just me

I bought a few HS and a Swampfox that have those, plus just got a EXPS2 that has the classic Circle dot. I don't hate them, but on some sights if you figure out a simple dot is actually better, the complexity just doesn't need to be there.

Leaving a PRO on or simply cranking the rotational switch from off to whatever in the blink of an eye is kind of priceless (and crank it all the way left to turn off) compared to some RDS with the chicklet multifunction routine to turn on and off... and that includes MRO and RMR too.

Prices RIGHT NOW on Amazon are $445 and $449 for PRO and MRO respectively WITH MOUNTS before any coupons or shopping around... I'm not too proud to buy OP or BOTACH if they save me $50-$70 and I have to remind them to ship my order, hahah.

Sorry, maybe I could have phrased things better. For me, recreational user, the auto shut down in 8 hours (programmable to 4) wasn't a great feature. I realize the CR 123 lasts 1,000 hours.

In comparison, the holosun battery can last anywhere from 20K to 50K hours depending on your dot/circle selection....on a CR2032 battery. It can also be solar powered if the battery fails and sun is available. it has programmable sleep modes with shake awake function. I wasn't digging the power switch to turn on for the Eotech.

I'm not knocking the Eotech. I had the CR 123 model (Exps2). I like CR123 batteries and love my cr123 surefire lights. The Eotech is proven and robust.

The holosun for me had features and battery life that made sense.

This thread is getting a little esoteric... seriously...

I'm no "operator" - but if I could clone me - I'd trust my partner over 98% of anyone here...

I have a few trusted local sources- and would never second guess their gear... they definitely wouldn't question mine...

                STFU with the squabble... seriously!

You guys might someday need the dude you are squawking with... unless you can put down targets that he/she can't- stop with he BS.

I range from 20-600 yrds... Im no expert at anything (and cringe when people say it about my profession, seriously)... but I welcome anyone serious enough to make a difference and not gripe about gear on the internet.

Please excuse the venting - but the invite is forever.

If EOTech ever comes out with something like the XPS2/3 that has even a 10,000 hour battery life (still awful compared to these RDS today) - I won't be able to throw my money at them fast enough.

But for now, 1,000 hours is only a little over a month (at a low brightness setting), and having to fumble with the buttons to turn it on is a no-go for me. If you go on ops on the regular and change batteries every time - great, EOTech is probably the bee's knees then.
