    ACOG tritium replacement

Hello there. So I have an old ACOG that looks like the tritium is pretty dim. Emailed Trijicon about sending it in for a replacement. They responded with instructions. Just wondering if anyone here has done so with their ACOG. Mainly concerned about the turn around time. Probably will be slower with the whole Covid thing going on. Please share. Thanks.

I did it about 15 years ago. It cost about $150 at the time and took about 3 weeks. It's not an uncommon request for Trijicon.

^Thanks Brando. 3 weeks doesn’t seem to bad. Even if it’s double that now with current events. I’ll ship it out tomorrow. Maybe they can give me a “courtesy ACOG” like car dealerships when you leave your car for repair. Lol

That's pretty cool that they do that? Any charge? Shipping?

Does change the tritium require them to open the scope and release the nitrogen?

Not sure of a charge yet. They’ve just given shipping instructions so far. This is definitely an older model ACOG as the adjustment turrets requires a small flatblade screwdriver to turn. Sure a penny or nickel would work too. Not sure exactly when Trijicon updated to tool-less adjustment turrets but probably around 12 yrs or more. I’ll follow up as I find out.

I'm sure it's not a problem if they have to crack it open. I'm positive every scope maker open up the scope and recharge or purge the scope.

The only issue is if it's a US GI bring back. If .gov is the registered owner then they won't do it under warranty and I'm not even sure they'll give it back.... I had one years ago I bought off here and I called them and gave them the serial number. I don't recall exactly what was said but I remember that I wasn't gonna chance it and send it in.

Just curious but how can you tell the USGI ones from the civilian ones? Any NSN- numbers or markings? This one looks to be a civilian model. But who knows. Also purchased this one here in the marketplace.

Serial number. If you have not already, call and ask them about it, date of mfg etc. They will tell you what they have in the system.

Copy that. Already sent them model and serial number. They just replied with shipping info. Didn’t call though, just emailed. Gonna ship out tomorrow so I get it back soon hopefully. Thanks for the responses fellas.

I remember emailing Trijicon several years ago and they said the cost to replace the tritium in my ACOG was over $500. I decided to use that money towards buying a new aimpoint instead.
