    Can you dehorn a rail?

So I got this Sig MPX and it feels so silky and smooth and I LOVED it, but then I replaced the aluminum hand-guard with one of those super sexy Carbon Fiber rails and DAMN it feels nice.

BUT, when I bought an aluminum rail that was made for it, the rail wants to bite me everytime I grab it. It does NOT match the remaining part left on the rifle, although it matches up next to it nearly perfect.

How do you dehorn these things? Do I take it off and run it up and down on my wire wheel a few times or is there a better way to do it without removing the finish? Maybe the finish being removed is not so bad...
7 Billion people on the planet. They aint ALL gonna astronauts. Some will get hit by trains...

Need GOOD SS pins to clean your brass? Try the new and improved model...

And remember- 99.9% of the lawyers ruin it for the other .1%...

On my rails that have some burrs on the edges, I put rubber rail ladders on them. It's not as nice though compared to sanding and refinishing.

I always thought they ran parts with sharp edges through a tumbler - pretty sure you've got one of those..

I have the same issue with a co-witness pic rail mount on my PC carbine. very slick machine work, but the leading edge all the way around is fairly sharp. I think my bubba fix was going to be hitting the edges with some very fine sandpapper on a block, to slowly bring down the edge. Followed up with a blue finish touch-up pen, or maybe just a sharpie marker (works well on an AR that I needed to touch up after I boogered a part install)

Understand that I don't really care about the value/perfection of these guns, they're working guns.

for my 1942 Victory Smith...I would take a much more careful approach, and might even send to a 'smith to get refinished.
