AR15 Free Float-screw on guards?

I have a hardened arms barrel and free float 15" handguard/quad rail.

It is a screw on type with a indexing nut/anti-rotation nut with a locking ring.

I wanted to know if there are other free floats that would be compatible.

I am looking to bring it down to about the gas-block (which is a low profile carbine) length.

I have included pictures.

The reason i want to stick with it is. I am already sighted in, screw ons are easy to replace etc.

A 15" free float quad rail is very unusual. The only one I was able to find is this one.

Looks like YHM, but be aware there are a lot of cheapo Chi-com rails that use this type of barrel nut too..... They are not interchangable. I had a pinned and welded barrel with a Barrel but that looked just like that, it looked identical to my YHM, but I couldn't use. The YHM rail on that Nut. I would look at the lock ring on the barrel nut, it will say YHM if it is...... If not probably Chi-com rail.

Like you said, you're already sighted in & the optics are on the upper receiver, not the handguard, so change the hg to whichever one you like without limiting yourself due to any perceived compatibility issue.

I am looking at a few different ones. some YHM, TacFire Hg03-12 and Tacfire HG03-10

They appear to use the same piece.

Would be nice to loose some weight as the tacfires have a railed top and removable quads.




At least now in AZ i can find and get things local
