    Red or Green laser?

I am generally against lasers, but I'm thinking about getting a TLR-8 with a laser. They come with either a green or red laser. Green is new with the TLR8, so it may not be available right now, and green appers to cost more than red.

Is a green laser better than a red laser?

Generally I prefer a green laser, especially if its being used during the day.

But when used with a weaponlight/low light situations, i find a red laser totally satisfactory to the point where I wouldn't pay more then $60 more for the green.

I much prefer green lasers over red. I am only going by the Crimson Trace handgun lasers I have bought-- which have been both rail mounted and grip lasers-- I own about 5 green and 2 red lasers.

In daylight condition you can see the green laser pretty visible out to maybe 25 years on target-- no way with the red.

But if just for ultra low light or dark scenarios, then the red will do just fine.

But I much prefer my Green CT lasers-- MUCH brighter than the red and my eyes pick up on them quicker.

I have a Kimber Warrior with Hogue green glow in the dark rubber grips and a green laser. It's my Zombie gun. Clearly green is better for zombies.

It's in my bedside safe loaded with Hornady zombie ammo. Clearly if anyone is breaking into my house at night, they must be a zombie, so it's ok to put them down.

Green is in my nightstand gun, TL2 HL G..... I wish Olight should confess or with a green laser light combo.

I find green on my m6x to be a more flexible option regardless of lighting condition.

I've been wanting the Surefire for my Springfield. But the green is so much more expensive than the red I've been holding back.

The consists is that green is easier to see and focus on, so green is the way to go.

Green is twice or more visible.

In a dark room / range you can see red fine.

In brighter settings, you can find green a lot faster

Red, our eyes can see green and green hues better when it comes to focus and detail, that's why night vision goggles are green tinted and folks here find it easier to see in daylight.

However, our brains are programmed to react to and pick up red more quickly and accurately. There's a reason stop signs, lights, warnings, etc. are red not green.

Against conventional wisdom, I very obviously pick up red far easier than green in all conditions. Try to test each color in a variety of situations and choose accordingly.

I read that green lasers need two diodes vs one for the red. If one diode dies for whatever reason, then the laser won't work. So, 2 vs 1 diode may mean that the failure probability of a green laser is double that of red.
I also read that the red lasers will work in temperatures between 15 and 120 degF, and green lasers may not work at all at the lower temperatures. Don't know why. Perhaps some one else can elaborate.

I would always choose a green laser over red. The only advantage of a red laser imo is the lower price.

while i don't currently run a laser, don't listen to haters that can't appreciate the value of being able to aim your weapon even if you can align the sights or see through your optic (for any reason).

I have a couple of the inexpensive eBay green lasers. They are longer and seem to be made for a rifle.
Specs say visible in the daylight to 100yds, and at night to 1000 yds. I've tested it at night, and the "1000 yds" seems accurate.
