    Streamlight TLR-4 broke

Just wanted to add a public data point that after about two years and 2,000 rounds on my Glock 23 (gen 4) the mounting clamp on my light has cracked.

This pistol never saw hard use, only safe and range duty.

We'll see how their customer service is, my hopes are not high as the website says they want proof of purchase, which is retarded for a lifetime warranty.

I have a tlr2 that is awesome. It hasn't seen heavy use either though. It sits in my nightstand on my HD gun. I'd like to see how the customer service aspect works out for you.

Streamlight has great customer service. I had very similar situation and they took care of me for free.

Reviving an older post to avoid creating a new thread on the same subject.

I was at the range over the weekend and the TLR-4 that I had mounted to my Sig SP2022 flew off during firing. I found that the rail mount had cracked, causing the failure.
Like the OP, my pistol spends 99% of it's time in a safe under my bed, and I only have about 1000rds through the gun with this light mounted on it and I have owned the TLR-4 for 4 years and 3 weeks.

I called Streamlight customer service and explained to them what had happened. They told me that it is covered under warranty and to send it in.
I will update again when this is completely resolved, with turn around time and any other info.

This happened to my old TLR-4. It's a polymer rail clamp that doesn't take well to being locked on tight and being under recoil energy. Mine was mounted to a Sig P226 .40 when it broke at the range.

SL replaced it under warranty but I couldn't trust it anymore, so I sold it and upgraded to the TLR-1 HL. The TLR-1 is beefy and I like it a lot. All of my FS pistols use this light now, while the compacts use the newer TLR-7.

After being told by CS that I needed my original receipt for warranty work I just gave the thing to my son and he glued it on one of his Nerf guns.

I'll be avoiding them in the future.

This must be a new policy. I had the same thing happen last year and I never talked to anyone, just got the packing slip online and sent it to them. They sent me a new one back. You might want to try this approach.

This is how I sent in my 5+ year old Streamlight. Created an account online with their service center, printed out the label, sent it in ($7USPS), and got a new one back.

No 'original receipt' or any of that non-sense.

I'll continue to use streamlight products in addition to my SF products on my rifles and helmets.

Well that's what I get for talking to a real live person the old fashioned way.

Just go ahead and send it in with the online packing slip. They will likely shrug and fix/replace it. Three people in this thread had the same problem, imagine how many of these they see every day. You've got nothing to lose. Good luck!

I just remove mine for casual range use.

It's already at home on my kid's nerf blaster, and I just don't want to deal with it.

I'd rather just upgrade to a light that will break the frame before itself breaks.

Terrible idea, if you can't rely on it to work under ideal practice conditions how can you bet your life on it?

Exactly. I have TLR-4 on a HD gun. I want to use the light and laser at the range when I take that gun - that's kind of the point. Removing it and reinstalling it prob wears it more anyway. If it is stored at-the-ready in the house, it isn't relegated to casual range use at all. YMMV. If I become convinced it is that bad, I'll dump it and get the new XC1 or another TLR-7. The laser doesn't do much for me.

                              An update:

I got my new TLR-4 in the mail yesterday.

22 days total turn around time.
                              1-2-19 I called Streamlight
1-3-19 I sent the broken TLR-4 to them (arrived at Streamlight on 1-9-19)
                              1-24-19 I recieved the new TLR-4

Not a bad turn around time, my only complaint was that I had to pay shipping of the broken TLR-4 to them.
It didn't cost too much so I'm not crying about it.

Overall I'm happy with their customer service.
