    Am I crazy?

    Hey guys,

I sent my Tango6 in to Sig to have them look at inconsistencies with the reticle. To me there are bright spots at the 5 o'clock position on the 6 and 8 and on the subtenions on the bdc. Sig tech said he could not see anything out of the normal.

    What do you guys think?

Well, they certainly show up in your picture, but the Sig technician can't see it?
If this is a test that only crazy people can see it then OK, I guess I'm crazy too.

Is it some sort of internal reflection? Is it from your camera's flash?

No, it is visible with the naked eye. Pretty distracting when trying to focus on a target. This is just my best attempt at capturing it before sending it off to Sig. What you see in the pic is accurate to what you see in the scope.

          Turn down the brightness.

Etched glass I take it? Probably just light reflecting/etc.

Like I said, turn down the brightness. In the daytime, everyone I know(myself included), shoots their rifle with the lighted reticle off with the exception of a red dot.

Shooting at night, you use a laser IR to mark your target. If it's NVG capable, you usually turn it down to the lowest setting and even then, shooting with NVG's while looking down your red dot/scope is a bit awkward.

Did I mention, turn down the brightness?

Agreed, looks like the brightness is set high in a dim setting in that pic. Gotta set it to the lowest visible setting.

It is an etched reticle, and admittedly, the first etched I've had. I did have a Tango4 and a Whiskey5, and it was perfect at all magnifications and all illumination settings. The hot spots were there even at lower illum, and honestly, you can't even see the illum until you get to about 6 or 7 out of 10. I don't really even use illumination, but I guess I just expected perfection in the top of the line Sig scope!

                Tell SIG to exchange it.

Your pics do show some hot spots but where is the environment you're mostly using it?

Or you can just return it for a refund and buy a Nightforce instead

Was a trade (Sig had a fully transferable warranty) and honestly, I have been very pleased with my Sig everything. What I got in my Tango 4 vs the SHV was a tremendous difference for what was almost no noticable difference in glass quality (NF did have a slight advantage at full range, but was second focal plane).

Illumination is set too high. On an etched reticle, it's supposed to be set to the lowest visible level possible.

Dave is spot on. With reticles like this, there is almost always some bleed off and non uniformity if you set the illumination too high. On 1x, when you need to go fast, set the illumination on Max and go for it. However, when you are using holdovers and such for orchids shots, illumination should be set in the lowest visible level.

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. Sig has been great through the process. My warranty tech, Trent, checked with the product manager and gave an explanation similar to what many of you have said regarding etched reticles. Still, being a loyal Sig customer of optics and firearms, they are going to send me a new one. Sig has always been good to me, and I will continue to recommend them.

Nice! They were very good with me as well. Good stuff.
