Primary Arms 1-6X24mm SFP Riflescope Gen III No Specific Caliber

Is there a benefit from the caliber specific or not?
    Note: I don't use BDC's

My opinion is that a caliber specific BDC reticle is almost useless. Bullet weight, barrel length, temperature, shooting up or downhill, wind, and maybe a few other things will change the impact point.

The Russian Dragunov and similar style sniper rifles have a good BDC, but they still will be affected by temperature and ammo quality.

Mil-dot or similar hash marks would be better.

With most inexpensive scopes like the PA 1-6x and 1-8x, I would discourage spinning the turrets too much. They are not designed for it and generally do not track well or consistently.

If you need to shoot beyond point blank range, use the reticle. I strongly prefer mrad-based reticles to BDCs, but I have used both with reasonable success. It all comes down to familiarity.

You can see by many of the comments that the ACSS BDC marks are highly dependent on caliber, load, and magnification. I personally found that the ACSS was too busy for me and I bought the PA 1-6x24 KISS scope. The simple chevron with three lines (two horizontal and 1 vertical) provides holdovers at 0, 1, 2, and 3 mils for reference. I love the reticle and even told PA that if they put it on their 5x prism scope I will buy three of them on the spot.
