this is the email I received from mike at eotech:
Advise all nomenclature on bottom of sight
Type of batteries aa n or cr123
Night vision button y n
Does it operate in red green or both
Does it mount with lever or bolt?
With answers to these, I can properly assist you
Thanks

sorry diesel. you're flat wrong on this. you can MAKE the reticle appear in the corner by moving your eye relative to the rifle. and if you do, the reticle will still be accurately showing the true point of aim in the bit of glass that is still unobstructed. THAT is the beauty of a holo sight, the fact that the POA is always accurately shown by the reticle no matter where your eye is, as long as you can see it somewhere in the glass.Nice explanation. Its too bad when I cover my EOTechs glass, the reticule appears in the corner. If yours doesn't, You have a Made in China Red Dot sight.
I'm done trying to educate people here on this. Aimpoints, BSA, Trijicon, EOtech (L3), and Tasco all make the same red dot sights. You win.
but covering part of the glass will NOT make the reticle magically "jump" to the unobstructed portion.
it just does not work that way, and if it did, without your eye or the rifle moving, the POA would have changed (as has been pointed out).
yes, i own an Eo. yes, it's real. yes, i know what i am talking about. and so do series8217 and uclaplinker. unfortunately, in this matter, you do not.Last edited by goober; 03-05-2009, 7:43 PM.Live between Santa Cruz and SLO? Want to get involved?

I will attempt to explain this one more time. With pictures for the people who think everyone else is wrong.
The top is an EOTech with crud on the glass, the bottom corner becomes the optic, without you doing anything, and it is still zero. Now if the 99% of the glass is covered, OMG yes you have to move your head, how the heck else would you see through it.
The bottom is what happens to an Aimpoint or any other RDS, or RDCS, or whatever. The dot is still being projected to the center. It doesnt move, no matter what you do your sight is useless, unless you rezero the dot to use the bottom corner.

LOL, They guys at ARFCOM and M4C told me I would encounter this foolish ego here.
whatever. I bet not a single one of you even pulled out your EOTechs to see. And if you did you wouldnt admit it.
If that 65MOA and 1/3MOA dot doesnt move, its a FAKE.Comment

The sight picture you fabricated simply does not happen with the Eotech sight. It is not a "smart" optic. The top is an EOTech with crud on the glass, the bottom corner becomes the optic, without you doing anything, and it is still zero.
The bottom is what happens to an Aimpoint or any other RDS, or RDCS, or whatever.

If you still think it does that, care to explain HOW?
This is a repeat from my previous post: If the reticle moves without you moving your head or the rifle, your point of zero has to have changed. Are you disagreeing with this fact?
You have avoided the question.
There are two possibilities here:
1) If you don't disagree with this fact, you obviously must agree that your point of impact is changing when you cover part of the reticle, since you think the reticle moves. If this happens, your Eotech is a useless piece of junk since it no longer aims where your gun does.
2) You're a troll.Last edited by series8217; 03-05-2009, 8:07 PM.Please donate to the Calguns Foundation to defend and regain your gun rights in California: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=108030Comment

you can find ego anywhere you look for it, including those forums. arfcom is probably one of the biggest zoos there is. and its full of both knowledgeable folks, and those that don't know what they're talking about, just like everywhere else. and some of those folks (of both types) have big ego's, and others don't.
at this point you have made a strong case that you do belong to latter group, but not the former. the only other possible explanation is that you are simply a

he will not
He may come here, but I do not think he will post. Never know.
I know I am right. I have been doing this with my 552 for an hour now hahahaha.
IDK if the other guys don't understand me, (or as others have told me) they are just saying whatever they can to make themselves right.
The holo-image is not projected onto the center only, it will move to anyplace in the glass, in relation to zero.
I can not say it enough, its not a LED projected to the center.Comment

YES, the reticle can be placed in any part of the glass...
YES, when one does this the reticle shows accurate POA...
NO, you cannot do this with a plain ol' red dot sight, as they are not holographic and do in fact only project the dot in the center of the glass, such that if you move your eye out of line you will no longer have accurate POA....
BUT...
NO, the reticle on an EoTech does NOT move around on the glass without you moving your eye relative to the rifle/holosight. ESPECIALLY not in some magic fashion just because something blocks a portion of the sight picture. period.
only half of what you talk about, do you understand....Live between Santa Cruz and SLO? Want to get involved?

I will answer.
I agree with the fact, you may need to move your head inorder to "see" through the glass, but the zero has NOT changed. In another way to say it, the size of your optic just decreased, but the zero is the same. I think you are taking what I am saying, then twisting it inorder to back up your friends. The sight picture you fabricated simply does not happen with the Eotech sight. It is not a "smart" optic.
If you still think it does that, care to explain HOW?

At least GOOBER_O had most of it right. But he is also wrong in how he is saying this. "The image doesnt "Jump" to the corner". If the image can not be displayed in the corner, the image is not tracking zero and is stationary.
If you have to look around the obstruction to see the image, then the image is being projected in one spot.
correct, the image moves, jumps, appears, is displayed, whatever, but it MOVES.you can MAKE the reticle appear in the corner by moving your eye relative to the rifle. and if you do, the reticle will still be accurately showing the true point of aim in the bit of glass that is still unobstructed.Comment

well yes and no
The sight picture has nothing to do with it. It is your eyes seeing the image as you view the zero point. The ZERO POINT will change in the optic, but not as you view the zero point.classic case of understanding a fact or two but being totally unclear on the concept

Another way to say the same thing I have said 10,000 times:
The sight is still zeroed, but the optic is not aligned center to the firearm, but your eyes need to still
1) See through the optic
2) See the point you have zeroed on.
I think when I used the word "Jump" it freaked all you "OMG some guy with a low post count think the EOTech can magically re-zero itself I think we will **** with him" guys.
I am saying the same thing as ALL of you, just in a different way, but your egos and "back up the guy with the highest post count" attitudes will not allow you to say that.Comment

I hate to disagree, but you are talking about a colmination red dot, like an ATN, or C-more. In a Red dot such as an Aimpoint, the LED is on the inside so the Red Dot is still being projected at the same spot, you just can't see it since your hand or whatever is in the way. On A holographic sight, the image itself will move, you do not have to move your head at all.

yep, twisting words
Yep, you twist my words and only bold what proves your point, and dont even acknowledge those words are being taken out of the context they were said in.
In a RED DOT SIGHT you MUST move your head to see around an obstruction in the glass inorder to SEE the dot. That is what I was talking about.
A State filled with people who hate liberals, but use liberal word twisting.Comment
