Did my SCAR just eat a Trijicon MRO?

I have MROs and T1s mounted on most of my SCARs and have never had an issue until recently. I was confirming zero @ 100 with a 17 when I noticed the MRO was turning off after each shot - I had to spin the illumination knob to turn it back on repeatedly. The battery contacts look fine to my untrained eye, but I'll be calling Trijicon on Monday to see what they say. Has anyone else had this happen?

Scars have eaten lots of optics. I would certainly let Trijicon know.

This is true, that's why we typically recommend one of the more durable options from Nightforce, Kahles or Aimpoint for example.

        Scars are piston guns right?
Does that have something to do with it?

Trijicon Warranty coming to you soon.
          Warranty exception.
Trijicon will not warranty any optic placed on a SCAR.

I just got a reply from Trijicon's customer service regarding if they've seen problems with accupoints mounted on Scar 17s. I also asked if there is language in their warranty against mounting accupoints on Scar 17s. The following was the response I received:

Well, you just put Trijicon on notice.
              Let's watch the fallout.

I assume that my LR308 has a sharper recoil impulse, i wonder if .308 AR's will eat MRO's too.

OP: How many rounds did it take for the MRO to fail?

                  Yep piston.

It was mounted for probably roughly 300 rounds total on three different SCARs.

I just got off the phone with Trijicon - probably the fastest warranty department I've ever had to deal with. They asked what the issue was, what firearm it was mounted on, and then told me they'd replace the whole thing (5mins total convo length). So far so good

The SCAR bcg is a big hunk of metal. That heavy mass cycling at a fast rate causes a lot of wear and tear on optics due to the energy transfer.

I was surprised when I field stripped my SCAR for the first time. I wasn't expecting the bolt to be attached to a giant block of steel. It must weigh at least a pound.

This is true, but more specifically its how hard it returns to battery

its the magnitude of impulses during the recoil that is very different in the SCAR platform.
