Highly unlikely. As Pthfndr mentioned, your best bet is to go to a range or competition; there will probably be way more examples of high-end glass belonging to owners who are very willing to let you take a peek through. (And on a regular weekend at the range, there will no doubt be lots of low- to mid-range quality optics as well.)

Mike C - CSGunworks - is a distributor for S&B, NF and USO. Even if a store has them you won't find a better price. He's in Elk Grove so he's not that far from you.

Come to our match Sunday. We usually finish up about 12:30 and hang out for a while after. Good time to check them out.

I like my Nightforce NXS. The USO is too heavy, but one solid sucker.

The only time I've seen S&B scopes are from an Asian guy at Angeles with one on each of his three rifles. They look really good!
I can't justify anything more expensive than what I have now, since I shoot for fun and too poor for ammo right now.

What rifle are you going to put the scope on?

I think the 50mm is all you need. I have the giant 56mm.

Get the scope first before the rings. I usually put a tall set on it just to see what height I would need for the perfect fit.

What is the going price for a NXS right now? I got my used at a great price.

I am planning to put the scope on a remington 700p but then on an AICS stock when I have enough money for it. The 5.5-22x50mm nxs run around 1650 and witht eh zero stop feature it is 1800. What is bad about getting a used scope if the brand makes really durable scopes and has a lifetime warranty, like your used nightforce for example?

Dont be afraid to buy used. Nightforce's customer service is excellent and they will warrant a scope even if you are not the original owner. I bought mine used ( a 5.5-22x50 ) for 1300 bucks practically brand new. Keep an eye out on snipershide in the for sale section. They pop up regularly. I havent seen quite as good of a deal for one in a while though.

Heres what it looked like when I bought it used.

I think I want MOA turrets and the np-r1 reticle anyway, thanks though, that looked like a really good deal.

700P with 5.5-22 is not a hunting rifle. Not sure about your size, but there is no way for me to shoot that without a bipod. Add the AICS and you are up a few more lbs.

I got my scope used and most are great. The 5.5-22x56 for 1K. The only lemon was a Super Sniper that had tracking problems.

Go Used! I have purchased USO, Nightforce, Leupold Mark 4, Nikon Monarch, and Eotech for myself and friends with great results. Just ask for pictures and buy from people with good feedback. Used scopes, rings, and mounts can save you tons of money.

I had bad experience with Nightforce rings being too tight. Badger is best for me since I never use Seekin before. Mark4 and TPS are ok. Those tactical steel rings and mounts are heavy too. I would stay with a 1 piece 20MOA mount.

You can send it back to nightforce and have them swap the reticle or turrets. They can also add a zero stop for you. You may still come out way ahead.

Oh I didn't know that, I know that changing the zero stop feature coats quite a bit of money but does changing the reticle and knobs cost money?

I think they'll do a knob change and a zero stop for like 280 or so. Otherwise I think they're 150 a piece.

Thanks guys for all the recommendations.

You can send the scope back in for a RET. change and turret change. The turret change for 1/4moa is $130 /w 0-Stop it is $320 and the reticle change out is $200.00.

For the most part if you get a used scope and change it to they way you what it you would be better off getting a new one.

How do Leupold mark 4s stack up against Nightforce? Mk4s are cheaper than similar magnification 50mm Nightforces but how great is the difference in quality?

The nightforce is much better. You get what you pay for.
