I'm pretty sure we're talking about the future longevity of the platform with regards to adoption. Not it's physical characteristics (with the exception of a few jokes). Obviously your Keymod goodies won't evaporate. However keymod is to Hd DVD as MLOk is to bluray.

I have neither so I'm unbiased.

If we're (the military) going to standardize on something I'm a little surprised we didn't just engineer something better than either one and then mandate that. MLOK seems fine (I have some MLOK stuff) but it's fiddly and as the report shows, if one doesn't install/join it just right it's total crap.

KeyMod clearly did worse when compared to MLOK that was used correctly, but KeyMod goes together the right way every time (for me) and it seems like that is a characteristic worth pursuing. A friend of mine who has hands a little unsteady actually got rid of his MLOK stuff for this reason. I can make it work but it is fiddly.

        This.

I have both KM and ML. KM is definitely makes it easier to mount items...ML is a little figgity on install. My understanding is that Magpul didn't go with KM because KM didn't work well with polymers (due to weakness when the material was thinned out to work with KM) and Magpul obviously wanted a system that would works with their handguards.

IMO, KM is basically a dead end platform. I'm sure a lot of manf. will be more than happy to cut SKUs and now they have a valid reason to. The flip side is that so long as you're happy with your setup as it, it doesn't really matter. Sure, you won't be able to run the latest rail panels or Scout light mount but if your rig is already setup the way you like it, no biggie.

Asking the military to engineer anything is a pretty big ask. I'd say keep it to the private sector.

I like those Nordic single rails. Basically how I use most tubes anyway.

Most of the better deals on the interwebs were Keymod lately.

Greetings, fellow mall ninja plebe using outdated quadrail. Amazing that we can even lift deez gunz up.

I waited a while before I bought either one. When I built my Noveske a couple years ago I went with a keymod rail since it's what they offered. Liked it enough to throw one on another AR. I won't be selling either just to switch to mlok. Once my rifles are configured, they typically stay that way. Dunno what I'll buy in the future. Hell, by then there will probably be something new and people will be giving away both of these platforms like I did with a full length quad rail recently.

Keymod has to fade away so the manufacturers and retailers can push the next fad...

Keymod lives on as Costco shelves. It will never die.

I'm still waiting for someone to basically miniaturize strut and incorporate it into a rail.

Market it as being like MLOK but better because you can truly customize the placement of your accessories and add moar!
