Need optics advice

After shooting again all day today with the crossfire ii vortex scope I would say it is not worth it, brother got the primary arms scope and it is way way way more clear and the reticle is 10 times better.


I would advise against the crossfire ii scope......never seems to get focused at the higher magnifications.....backing it back to about 10 or under seems to help, but why have it if almost half the magnification is useless.

The primary arms scope is as clear as my SWFA scope, probably not as tuff internally, but it is clear and works good.....


But my point of posting this is to say in my opinion stay away from the crossfire ii vortex scope.......it is not that great at all.

I am a pretty big Vortex fan... I have owned/used/sold a pretty decent array of scopes from their catalog before they starting going nuts with the different series of scopes they have now.

Personally I think the Crossfire series is complete garbage... its no different than any of the other low cost Chinese optics; the only difference is that its backed by a REALLY good warranty.

The minimum I would buy is a Diamondback and only for a hunting rifle in a set it and forget it usage model.

You basically want a PST or a Razor if you are interested in target shooting, its about the only two series of scopes from Vortex really worth owning for that application. If you want a huge value proposition look at the SWFA 5-20x50, but the zoom and parallax controls are no way as refined as a Vortex PST or Razor, but the optical performance is right at or better than my 1st Gen Razor.

I've spent a some time with the PA 4-14 scope as well and I can think of better ways to spend my cash. I don't think its a better buy than the fixed power SWFA in any area other than the fact its a variable. That said it is setup correctly and a very feature rich target scope.
