Get the 512. It's basic and uses AA batteries. Take up more rail space than newer models. I got mine for like $390 from riflegear awhile back.

If you want to use CR123 batteries, your best options are the XPS/EXPS models.

        XPS 2-0: Absolute co-witness.
XPS 3-0: Same as XPS 2-0 but with night vision capability.

EXPS 2-0: Lower 1/3 co-witness. Integrated quick release mount.
EXPS 3-0: Same as EXPS 2-0 but with night vision capability.

He asked for which Eotech specifically. Come on now.

Teflon has the correct specs. The difference between the 2-0 and 3-0 series is the NV. The difference between the XPS and EXPS is the integral riser and QD lever.

What Teflon said; personally I'd suggest going used and seeing how you like it. If it ain't for you, you're able to get what you put into it.

I tried a 512 for awhile but sold off the rifle it was on and had no use for it.

Loved how bright it was in daylight, and how quick target acquisition was but that's it

                    XPS in .300 Blackout.
.300 has very similar ballistics to 7.62x39 and two dot reticle can work for AK (100yd-300yd). It's also more compact vs other models and uses better battery.

                      TL;DR - Get a 512, but its heavy

512 unless you're looking for one of the newer compact ones. The 512 also is generally the cheapest last I looked. I have a 512, 557, and 553. If I were to buy again I'd stick with the 512. The NV compatibility of the 55x models is of limited usefulness in this state, the long range shooting dots of the 557 and similar models is pretty much useless if you don't want a magnifier, and the 512's use of common AA batteries (you can still use lithium) is easier to deal with if you run out of batteries on a range or camping trip and the closest gas station isn't stocking CR123's, but since the batteries last a long time this is a somewhat minor issue.

My biggest complaint about my Eotech's in general is just they are heavy sights. My 553 and 557 were sights I bought earlier in my rifle building when I didn't think about weight as much. All my other rifle sights I have bought recently have been lighter weight. I still bought the 512 later because it was specifically for my .50 Beowulf pistol build and I assumed I needed a tank of a sight. The newer smaller/lighter Eotech's I have yet to try.

So as of right now I run my 553 on my already hopelessly heavy AK, the 557+magnifier on my "tacticool" not serious but built for looks AR (complete with fake can, to give you an idea), and the 512 on the previously mentioned Beo pistol. Any serious business rifle I have that I expect to walk more than 30 feet carrying runs a lighter optic.

I have two 512s and love them. Picked up both of them here on the forums, both basically NIB. One for $325 and the other for $300.
I really like the Eotech system. It is SO fast picking up your target. That 1 MOA center dot can be very precise out to several hundred yards if you bump the brightness down appropriately (I don't think a lot of Eotech users understand that).
                          Anyway......good luck with your shopping.

This is what I'd get. I dumped my EOTech after I got an Aimpoint CompM4. The reticle on the Aimpoint is much easier on your eyes and it'll run for 8 years on a single AA battery. I've never turned mine off and it's still on the first battery. And the USMC recently released a memo about issues with the EOTech maintaining zero through temperature changes.

Over the past few weeks, three separate issues have come to our attention regarding EOTech's line of Holographic Weapon Sights (HWS). While we initiall ...

I own both Aimpoints and Eotechs.

While I like my Aimpoint Micros for reliability, battery life, and light weight, I prefer the Eotech's reticle and big rectangular window for fast shooting up close. The perfect optic IMO would be a 6 oz. Eotech EXPS with 5 year constant battery life.

BTW, only Aimpoint Micros offer a discernible weight advantage over Eotechs. The bigger Aimpoint Comps are heavier.
