    Scope for ar 762x39

I want to have more than a rds on my rifle, and I'm slowly putting money to the side for one. I keep going back and forth about what I want. I built an AR in 762x39 and part of my hesitation is wondering if I need/want more than 3or4x. I think that more magnification might come in handy, but would much more do anything ever?

If I got a fixed 3or4x I'd put a rds on top of it
    If I do a 1-6 I'd skip a rds
If I decide to go crazy and get a 2-7or3-9x I'd put a rds on it

I'm still trying to decide whether to stick to irons or toss a Bushnell 1-6.5 that I have on mine. I'd keep your eyes open for the right deal on a 1-6ish.

I definitely have both those primary arms scopes on my list. Have you started testing the 1-6x? I've seen the test for your 3x fixed and Trijicon collaboration Acog but have haven't seen your results on the 1-6x. If you have, how do you like the 6x feature? Does it do much for you more than the 3x or your Trijicon Acog 4x?
socal147 - I'm looking for something with a little magnification, already have a rds...just not as nice as the h1

I'd use a low powered scope or red dot sight.

The 1-6x is amazing! Only thing is you cant use WARSAW stocks

AKs are really meant for just iron sights. If you HAVE TO, then you may as well stick to a real AK sight and get a Dragunov scope. At least that would be kind of cool.

That's what I thought until we stuck an ACSS 4x on one! I can hit 500 fairly easy!

So - a tacticool Special Forces Laser Night Sight with 400 W Pulse Phasor would do nicely. (MK1-23)

If it was an AK, I'd say get a Barska. I know everybody hates them, but they are rock solid.

Dimitri, it isn't to say you won't improve your performance because you can. Rather it's just the feel of an AK for me. Actually, I once put a 12x scope on one of my cheap WW AK-74s just to test the accuracy of a cheap AK and ballistics of the 5.45x39 cartridge. It performed well beyond my expectations. But, my personal AKs don't like optics.

If I were going to use an optic, it would be a fixed 4 power as I really don't like dialing optics with an AK. I like 4x as it lets you shoot both close and far.

Oh, you are correct. My mind let me to assume it was an AK.

No they are not, optic rail is a standard factory part on a proper AK since it very early days (both milled and stamped). Numerous optics have been developed and used, from fixed power, reflex to NV scopes.

As to 7.62x39mm AR scope, Browe Tactical Optic 4x32 is my favorite but for the price PA ASCC 4x can't be beat. I also own 1-6 version but can't recommend it as it's been discontinued (my version) and I don't have than much range time with it, but so far so good.

My 7.62x39 bdc scopes (+ few more not in the pic).

Sorry, I didn't mean it to be that they physically can't, it's that I personally shoot AKs with irons. I too can mount optics on any of my AKs. I simply don't, except for the example I have above when I was testing the accuracy of a barrel and ballistics of a cartridge. If I were going to, I'd use a fixed 4. I dislike 1-6x optics for anything other than a hunting scope, but that is my PERSONAL preference.

However, it was my fault that this thread was led astray as I didn't read carefully in the OP that it's an AR, not an AK.
