Burris FFII Ballistic Plex. Simple, effective rangefinding reticle. Bright, clear glass.

I have 2 or 3 of them and have no complaints whatsoever.

That or pay more for the Vortex Viper, which is supposed to be very nice, though I have not ever looked through one.

+1 to that. Have one on my .308 R700 and it's just dandy. Planning to put another one on my SPR at some point.

TTAC didn't have very good luck doing that. Not sure if that's something that PA has addressed with updated units.

This is a useful scope. Good glass and clarity, and a good feature set. Even the illuminated reticle (Dot) is useful in some conditions. It is a little big and heavy.

This is a close out, so it is a pretty good price.

SWFA by far, if you are just punching holes get a fixed power one. I run the 20x on my 26" .308 with zero complaints. Glass is good for the money and I had no trouble hitting a 12" gong in the desert with heat mirages and other stuff going on at the distances you described.

Vortex Diamondbacks are good values for the money as well.

I owned the first version of the PA FFP scope and while they are fair values for the money (like all PA stuff), having purchased SWFA, Vortex, and Zeiss products since I've realized they are not that special. Great budget red dots, but there are much better products out there that don't break the bank.

              How about a $299 Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40?

No, this is not the Terra, it's the Conquest. Yes, the "discontinued" one. Apparently EuroOptic has a bunch of these in stock.
