    Need help $300 scope

Looking at scopes for my 308 rifle. Will only be used for punching paper and steel. Not looking to get sub moa accuracy. As of right now, the longest distance would be 600 and future could be 800 yards. Any suggestions?

Looks like a busy scope. The mil dot version looks more my speed.

How's the glass clarity versus a Nikon?

I think its much clearer then Nikon, there is also a side focus. You see the reviews on it under product page and also check out the military arms channel review under 1000 yard gun/scope under 1000

Yup I have one. I bought it for my 308 but it now lives in my AR.

It's a pretty good scope. It's no where as good as my Viper though. The Viper tracks very well, has better eye relief, side parallax adjustment, the glass is clear, and I've personally used mine out to about 550 yards. Also for the distance you want to shoot you'll want a 30mm tube. The 1" is not going to give you the travel you need.

Here you go, found it for $300 too. Camera Land is good to go as a vendor too. They sponsor another site I moderate.

PM me if got any questions.

This is the correct answer. The scope only looks busy until you use it. Put one on my AR10 build and it's amazing. Maybe the best value going in glass right now.

If you need a good scope for under $300 for a .308 WIN, my suggestion would be a either an SWFA Super Sniper 10x42:

                Or...a Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40:

We take a look at the very basic 10x40mm tactical scope from Bushnell

I was taught to use a 10X fixed scope in the Marines. I have stuck to iron sights or fixed power scopes (4X, 6X, & 10X) in all of the other rifle shooting I have done. Fixed power scopes are easier to use and more durable than other scopes due to less moving parts. I hope that recommendation helps. Cheers! --1911ShooterPhil

The SWFA is a solid choice... so far my favorite scope in the $300 and under price bracket I've used/owned.

They do go on sale... generally for around $40 less and they include a set of rings with it.

Will it hold up to the recoil of larger calibers? .338LM +?
                      Sorry, not sorry.

PM Primary Arms for their opinion on the .338 LM. The drop compensation will obviously be way off.

                          +1
I'm really liking mine. I have it on a .308 Ruger and have made first round/repeatable hits on a 14" gong at 605yds after zeroing. The acss reticle is very easy to use.

I plan on using it as my deer rifle/scope combo and totally trust it for that job after seeing what it can do on the range.
