LOL--$1900 is enough to pick up another PS90 plus Eotech! No biggie, though, I do appreciate the Elcan suggestion--it does look like a great scope for my purposes. Just not for my wallet (yet)!

I'm definitely not a wealth of information, I was just looking for the same thing as you about a month earlier

My 32mm objective Simmons is 10.5" long with the eyepiece focused for me. I cant find any info on the 20mm objective version, but if everything else on the scope is the same as the 32mm version, I'd guess it to be .5-1" shorter based upon the pictures.

Like you, I'd like the Accupoint, but I wanted a scope NOW. I would have had to save for an Accupoint and LaRue or American defense mount. Something to think about is that the cost of an Accupoint and good mount starts to get up into used ACOG money. You might want to call Trijicon and see what they say about the reticle you want in the Accupoint. It may be on the drawing board, or they may outright tell you that they're not going that route with that optic. Either way, you'd have some info to help with your short term decision.

I know I said I was overall happy with my setup, but that shouldn't have been inclusive of the CAA mount. I've noticed a small amount of recoil-induced movement when using the 1" reducer rings. I'm ordering up a new set of 30mm to 1" reducers to replace the half circle versions that came with the CAA setup. That specific deficiency was mentioned in Maxicon's writeup, and I plain missed it. If I was buying new, and on a budget, I'd probably buy a YHM riser and rings or look for a used Armalite 1" setup. If the Simmons was a certain stopgap for the Accupoint, then I'd buy a LaRue SPR or equivalent mount and call it done.

If you're thinking of going ACOG, the TA11 line has better eye relief than the TA31 line.

Thanks for all the help, guys! I ended up buying an 3X ACOG TA33--even though they have the shortest eye relief of all the scopes mentioned. What I realized was that I'd spend tons of money on getting an extended-eye-relief mount that would still not be able to mount the scope far forward enough.

In short, I was trying to make the rifle something it's not, and so I chose the optic that went best with the rifle at hand.

Thanks, Chris, for the "used ACOG money" tip that got me really thinking about ACOGs...

I might return to my idea on my .22LR build (due in February, 2009), just in time for the green Accupoint rumored for January, 2009.... It *might* be a full-length one-piece rail upper, so that I can get the scout-scope-type intermediate eye relief I really want.

YESSS! Microsoft's Live.com Cashback deal went up to 30% today, so I bought the Accupoint (amber TR21-3) too! Now, all I need is the right mount, which will most likely be a LaRue SPR-E.

SNAG A DEAL FOR YOURSELF! Search Calguns for "live.com" and "cashback" to see how to use the deal!

I received the TA33R-8 today and love it! In spite of the specified eye relief, it can actually be mounted fairly far forward and still have minimal vignetting while the reticle remains sharp. For me, vignetting and fishbowling begins at 4.5 inches, which is over twice the specified 1.9 inches eye relief.
