I need help finding a safe...

Hello everyone,

My girlfriend and I are planning on buying a new house soon, and I'm going to use my current safe/cabinet for storing ammo and would like to purchase a nice, LARGE gun safe to keep inside the house (so it must look nice as well) and not in the garage anymore. I was looking at Browning safes, but wanted to know if there was something better out on the market for the price. I'm willing to spend in the area of $4000-5000 on it as long as it's worth the price. I was looking for something at least 6' tall, to hold at least 14 long guns and at least 25 hand guns, but also a separate file drawer for misc. paperwork and documents. Is this something that will need to be custom made?

A safe should NOT be a display item. It should be put away from guest/visitor/service people's view. The existence of one should not be discussed. Only people with an explicit need to know should have knowledge of it. Remember, the safe is the LAST line of defense.

Ok let me correct my post. The name brands that were 12 & 10 gauge were comparable in size to to the Sturday Safes 7 & 8 gauge safes. The 12 gauge safes were about the same price. The higher end name brands 10 gauge safes were more money. I was basically comparing the size of the safe, to the metal thickness, to the cost. And was looking at the $1200-2000 range.

The cheapest Brown Safe Co. safe with 1" body is 60 x 18 x 16" and is $3680 and is 10 cubic foot.

The Sturdy Safe I was looking at was the 3627-6, which is 72 x 36 x 27", 5/16" door, 7 gauge (1/4") body, Fire Lined, 40 cubic foot w/o fire liner (not sure what it is with fire liner), and was around $1800 I believe (I have the prices wrote down at home). The other model was the 3224-6, which is 37 x 32 x 24", 5/16" door, 7 gauge (1/4") body, Fire Lined, 32.4 cubic foot w/o fire liner (not sure what it is with fire liner), and I think that one was around $1460 I believe.

The comparable Brown Safe Co safe to the Sturdy Safe 3224-6. is Brown Model # 7228, which is 72 x 28 x 26", 1/2" thick door, 1/4" body, it doesn't look like it's fire lined, 30.3 cubic feet, at it's $1,972.
