QFT. I have had mine for 2 months and I am already out of room. Since I bought the safe, I have had an urge to fill it up. My wife sharing the addiction does not help. She's on 2 guns in a week so far.

At this point I wouldn't even be worried about size-just buy a good safe from a reputable company, and nothing, NOTHING from Stack On, Sentry, Home Depot, Lowe's, Wal*Mart, Costco, etc. Beg, borrow, do whatever you have to do to buy quality; that's what I did and now that I think about it..........I should've spent more...

I agree. I have three safes, and I still stack a lot of "stuff" outside of them because there is no room.

I understand your plight. Good safe to store in bedroom and visible. Turners has American Security TF5517 for 500.00 or the Champion 60x20 for 550.00 until the 27th. I know that is a little above your 400.00 but as you can see by some of the posts they are both good companies. Those will be more than adequate to keep your guns from curious hands but a thief is going to get them with some effort. Also be prepared to re-invest once you move out and your collection grows. But you gotta do what you gotta do for now and get them locked up.

If that is still too much check Craig's list daily. I just picked up my Cannon Patriot P22 in 80% condition for 500.00

Hope this helps, put pull the cord and get it done before you go buggy

I have been looking at safes for a long time now. I agree with most here anything in that range are barely better than the cabinets. IF you have to have one right now then Walmart has a few sentry safes a 5 gun for 179 or a 14 gun for $437. Im sure they have something in between as well. If you don't have enough Id suggest saving up for something bigger and better. I will say fort knox has the safe I want but its gonna take a small fortune to get to it. It has a clear bullet proof glass door so you can display your rifles.

Check Craig's List as another poster mentioned. Here is a Sun Welding safe.

I wouldn't even bother to look to buying a safe until you can start it at $600 or so. Some of the Bighorn brands at Costco are pretty decent for the money and they are true fire safes. The sub $500 are mostly just a gun closet that won't really stop people from getting in or keep anything "safe" in a fire. I'd wait on doing this till you can drop a bit more coin on it.
