    New BigHorn 7144EL

I have only posted a few times but read the forum daily. Figured I should finally post something of interest.

Just delivered last week. I got it from California Safe Outlets ad they had on here. Total cost delivered inside (in closet) was right around 1800 with tax, dehumidifier and 300 delivery charge. I am a piano mover by trade, trust me pay for inside delivery if that is where you are going to put it. If it is just garage, curb side is fine. The delivery guy, Curtis, also your sales guy knows his stuff. They did a very clean job.

I up graded from a 6030 from American security. Just out grew it. I added a motion detector and lights and also a battery light kit for when the power is out.

So far I like it a lot. My only complaint would be that the lower shelf does not have a hole through it for those really long shotguns. My Winchester in the back is touching the shelf. I have a Vinci in the shop right now that I think is longer. If so, I will have to cut the shelf, but it kind of need to be lower anyway.

There is not much room from the front line of rifles to the door panel. The 870 marine in front touches one of the pistol hangers on the door with the sling attachment. Not sure how I feel about this. It is good as you get more rifle and shelf space, but lose the option of a nice, well utilized door organizer. I wanted to hang a few long guns from the door, etc. I can still do some, just need to be really careful where they are placed.

The lock mech works very smooth, no slack, feels smooth and well built. The door closes tight. Once locked, there is no play on the door.

I have never done a review before, so if anyone is considering this model. I am up for questions.

Over all I am really happy with this safe.

I still need to clean up the cords etc but here she is...

Did the light kit come included in the $1800?

Said the same thing to my wife about getting another safe, got a nice smack on the back of the head.

The lights where separate. They where all from home depot. About 40 bucks for 18 feet of led rope light, one under shelf light, motion detector and some wire.

Rifle rods work really well for increasing the capacity of your safe:
