Excellent Video link Johnny ... Thanks so much.

I was curious how I was going to move it in the garage myself if my guy was not so cool guy and would just drop on my curb.

    Thanks again.

I decided to go ahead and order this 28" wide Bighorn safe. I took a realistic look at where I was going to shoe-horn this safe into and realized anything wider/deeper just wouldn't fit.

Will update this thread when I get the safe and have a chance to check it out. My expectations are reasonably modest as this safe has a delivered cost of less than $1.5/pound.

      cheers

        Agree, great video, thanks.

$1.5 per pound, lol. I can't wait for someone now to post "Well gee if your safe was less than NN per pound you're just not secure!"

          Placed my order today!!!

Now adding a Door Organizer (American Security Model19), Humidifier (PEET M10 Dryer), humidity/temp meter (acuRite), door combo-lock light and some other stuff to my Amazon cart.

I'm going to find one of those garage type extension cords with like 3 plugs on the end and then cut off the plug ... run that cord through the 3/8" hole and buy a new plug end and rewire. This will work perfect since at the moment I will just need two plugs, one for the LED's and the other for the dehumidifier ... this will leave me one extra for something if ever needed (and it of course can be split if need be as these kind of items take almost no power to run).

I will be ordering a large fully equipped LED light set-up with a 100v adapter, motion sensor along with a full strip of LED on both sides along with the top and bottom of the safe And it will have a side lead with a strip going under the bottom portion of the shelf as well. Should be Plenty of lighting to illuminate the entire safe very bright. It's a total of 500+ LED's in the kit.
I sent the dimensions of the safe to the guy who sells there and he is going to make one that fit my dimensions perfectly so all I have to do is run and mount the motion sensor and plug it in and then adhere all the pre-made and wired strips to the inside front corners of the safe and and I've got light. $80 for the complete kit ... and that includes a magnetic sensor for the door and battery box just in case the power thing doesn't work right or battery back-up in the unit if wanted.

Should be a KILLER safe once I'm done. Gonna buy some wood as well and try and find the matching carpet to make another shelf or two and built up the center wall higher to meet the top shelf for added support hopefully.

Can't wait to get it ... problem is now I'm gonna have so much extra room I will have to buy more guns!!!

Very nice what he's done to those safes. Love the molle on the door. Overall, I would have taken it a step further and finished the basement floor, walls, and ceiling but maybe he was going for that look. Good stuff!

Here is the guys built thread on just the basement section alone for his guns stuff and safes.

I think maybe since the entire basement was so big he didn't do the floors and other stuff.

All I know is would LOVE to have this kinda basement and set-up ... Very Cool

Got mine about two weeks ago, so far I think it's good especially when considering the price. It's bolted down, I installed some power outlets, and installed a gun saver dehumidifier and lighting with a motion switch. Also switched the electronic lock for a dial. Just finished installing the lights yesterday, and I haven't cleaned up the wiring or mounted the switch yet so you'll see them in the photo.

Where did you order you lighting kit from? I got a guy building me one specific to this safe on eBay but was just curious.

Also I want to add just like a 3 outlet extension cord into mine for the light kit, dehumidifier and a third outlet for future us I guess.
I know the hole is already there but you just I take it have to drill in the hole to get through the inner fire-proof layer and carpet correct?
Was that nothing and easy to do? Also what do run through there ... I got a 16gauge cord which is a touch smaller then 3/8" so I'm hoping I can just snip the plug off the end run it through the hole and then wire on a new plug and be done.

Was it easy to move on a dolly? I've got an appliance dolly waiting here for it to arrive.

Looks Killer though bro .. very nice!!!

It's easy to move a safe of that size with a dolly. Especially if you remove the door first. The door lifts off when opened 45 degrees. Just don't lift it by the spokes on the door or you risk tripping the relocker.

Thanks, it was a nice little project. I moved it with an appliance dolly rented from Home Depot. It was very manageable, I only had to get it up three stairs and did it with the door still on the safe. Just me an one other person were able to get it done.

As far as running power, drilling through the drywall and carpet is easy and proved not to be an issue. I thought about doing what you're planning to do with the extension cord, but ended up getting a single gang electrical box, electrical outlet, and cutting the cord off of an old power strip and wired it up. My wire was 14 gauge, and made it through the 3/8" hole no problem so you should be just fine with 16 gauge. I just recommend getting a 3"8 rubber grommet for the hole so the metal doesn't wear on the power wire.

The lighting was actually easier than I was anticipating and very, VERY cheap. I bought these LEDs http://www.amazon.com/Lampux-Flexibl...ed+light+strip, a power supply, and the motion switch for a grand total of $28.82. The picture makes the light look whiter than it is in person, but I wanted a warmer light so it worked out perfectly. All different colors are sold so if you have different tastes, no problem.

I thought I would have to cut the roll and orient the tape so that the LEDs were facing the inside of the safe, but honestly when I mocked it up running all the LEDs continuously around the door frame proved to be very effective so I decided to just leave it alone. It made for a simpler install and means that if I decide to move shelves around I won't have to worry about disturbing any lighting.

Safe arrived in Fresno, CA. last Friday the 12th at the end of the day.

Thing was shipped from Tacoma to Fresno in 2 days (Left Tacoma, WA. on Wednesday the 10th arrived in Fresno, CA. Friday the 12th).

Checked in today and got an appointment for delivery tomorrow Tuesday the 16th from 1-5pm (and they will call 30 mins. ahead of time so I do not have stay home, I will get the call and head home before he arrives).

Basically all in all including weekend safe will have been bought, shipped and delivered in 6 days!

Can't ask for more then that.

Full LED Light kit is here (top and bottom and both sides along with under shelf strip, 110 power box and motion sensor set-up) and ready to be installed

Got a 3 outlet extension cord that will be wired in the safe for the LED lights, dehumidifier and a 3rd outlet for something in the future!

Hopefully I can get the thing in the house this week sometime somehow and get it all set-up.

Safe arrived yesterday in perfect condition.

Ran the power wire (it's on the right side of the safe now) then ran the LED wiring and hooked it all up. Added the Peet dehumidifier as well.

Just threw my stuff in that I had ready

I bought a full door organizer but it didn't fit well at all so it went back today. Just bought a few velcro holsters and made a velcro backed magazine holder and I will be adding those to the door is all.

It is not yet bolted down since we are moving soon so I am not doing that yet till the new house ... and when not bolted down it is top heavy ... not bad at all but it has a slight slight tilt when you open the door ... but once I loaded my stuff in I can hardly tell (just an FYI is all if not bolting down).

Added a lithium battery to the keypad for long life and it works like a charm!!!

So far happy with the safe, perfect size and I like the shallow depth as well.

Stunk like many others say ... gotta let it air out that's for sure. (carpet glue smell).

For the price it is BY FAR the best value for a quality safe on a budget.

Here are some pics after I got done with adding the LED light kit and dehumidifier last night ..........
