    Help me identify this safe

We have this safe at my work in our datacenter. It used to be used to keep backup tapes, but we no longer use tapes so its not being used currently. The guy who had the code to open the safe is no longer working for us. I cannot see any identifying marks at all on the safe. The only place I haven't looked is at the bottom because this thing is heavier than hell.
    Here's some pics:

Any ideas on the manuf? Or any recommendations on where to look to get more info?

    Thanks in advance!

    Not an expert, but...
Looking thru my Cannon safe documents, it appears that the electronic lock is an LG (La Gard, manufacturer name). Problem is that this is one of the most popular lock manufacturer on multiple safe manufacturers. Hope this helps.

That looks like a safe possibly manufactured by Visalia Safe Co. or one of it's offshoots. I would call them up and send a pic to make sure. They told me that there were 2 other original owners who branched off to make their own safe co. but used similar design. Unfortunately they may not be able to help you open it. They don't keep or have any type of master codes to any locks. Here's a pic of mine which has similar design made by Visalia. The handle and combo locations vary since these are custom manufactured safes and can differ in placement of these parts.

BigBoy's safe does look very much like the one OP has shown here.

Hard to believe only one guy had the code.....this is a long shot but look around the safe or the room to see if someone Wrote the code on the wall, the electrical box, etc. I have worked in three different places where the code was written on something in the same room...seems like someone should have a file...Try address or street number....safe that size probably has default of five digit code.

good suggestion. if the ex employee's opinion of himself was that of royalty... he may have ensured nobody would ever find the combination. i'd guess the employee parted on bad terms, since the obvious answer to the problem would be... to get the combination from that person.

              This.

Thanks for all of your replies guys! It's a 6 digit code, because after six digits it will beep in error. Going to research some of the safes you guys posted up top.

Wouldn't a competent locksmith be able to get it open for you?

+1 to BigBoy's suspicion of Visalia Safe. AFAIK, there aren't too many safe manufacturers around here who use piano hinges on their safes.

The combo on an electronic lock is easily changed, so if you can't locate the combo then you will probably have no choice but to contract a locksmith who specializes in safes. I think even the manufacturer would have to crack the safe at this point.

ETA - yes, those are usually 6 digit codes

The handle on the safe actually comes right off. Was able to look on the inside of the handle and there was a company name on the inside.

                      Ilco Unican Corp

And their address in Winston Salem, NC.

I've looked on their site and they do make a lot of mechanical and digital locks for doors and the like. But I'm seeing nothing about safe locks. :/

Anyone have any info about this company or used products made by them before?

                      Thanks again in advance!

Same thing on mine. Handle comes right off as another theft deterrent. Ilco might just be the maker of the handle and not the safe or lock. You should be able to remove keypad to change batteries and find out the manufacturer, but like I said, they may not have some type of master code to open.

                          It is a Visalia.

since the manufacturer of the lock has been positively identified... i'd suggest contacting that company for possible assistance.
