Not sure if there's a thread strictly dedicated to this or not but I figured I'd start one either way, wanted to get some opinions on best ear protection out there based on experience. I've always worn the foams for indoor or outdoor shooting and have heard many great thing on electric ear pro such as MSA Sordins and Peltor Comtac, which are the best set of ear pro's you've used and why? Pros, Cons, etc.?

Best Ear Pro?
sigpicTags: None -
I previously used Walker Razor with gel cups but switched to MSA Sordin because I thought the directional sensitivity (ie being able to identify where the sounds came from) was way better for Sordin.
If I’m shooting indoors or shooting rifles I use a set of decibullz moldable ear pro underneath the Sordin -
I have sordins and comtac V’s. Pretty sure none are MSA anymore, they sold it and all the new ones I’ve seen just say sordin. If you’re stepping up from any budget hearing protection they’re both going to be a lot better but the comtac’s are a lot more comfortable to me. If you got to the range for an hour I don’t think it matters. But sordins always start irritating me when I wear them for more than a few hours. The head band sucks compared to the comtac’s.Comment

The price difference is substantial though between the two I feel like.sigpicComment

The only reason a lot of people suggest Sordins is because they can't afford ComTacs
Sordins do not have the sound quality of ComTacs. Can DI AR's run dirty?

I have Sordins. And Pro Ear Golds and Howard Leight Sports. The Sordins are good but they have some annoying feedback if you take them off your head while powered on and the ear cups get too close together.
Military Arms Channel has some reviews of ear pro (you may want to watch them) and they noted the same problem with their set. I don't think it hurts anything but it is annoying AF. Annoying enough that I wouldn't buy them again. YMMV."Kestryll I wanna lick your doughnut."

The best ear pro I've ever used has been Sylinx. MSA is probably the best for your buck if you need ear pro that gives you spatial awareness outside of the sylinx c4ops.
I now have a set of Otto that I keep in my range bag along with some Surefire EP3s for comfort and ease of use.NRA Life Member and Certified Instructor: Pistol - Rifle - Shotgun - PPITH - PPOTH - NRA Certified RSO

Became enamored with gel ear seals back when I was taking flight lessons. They work so well! Did the same with MSA Sordins. I found the upgrade to electronic noise cancelling was so much more pleasant. More importantly it means never removing them to hear what a range officer is saying. That changes behavior to make it much more consistent protection. I'd do the same thing in a high-decibel work situation.CRPA MemberComment
