Uhhhg!!!
Had an M1898 Krag arrive at my FFL today.
My FFL called me to tell me the rifle had arrived and upon opening the shipping box, the stock was completely broken in half at the wrist. My heart just sank when he told me this. I head down to the shop to see for myself. Sure enough, I see the ugly sight. I'm just totally disheartened at the damages FedEx caused on this piece of history, not to mention I had been saving for a Krag for a while now. Unfortunately this ole' gal had to suffer the destruction. For 115 years this rifle had endured the elements of time and war, and then through the careless hands of FedEx, it's done.
This one was made in 1899 with a 1903 acceptance stamp.
The stock WAS beautiful on this one.....until today.
The seller fortunately had the rifle insured, now we have to file a claim / inspection and HOPE FedEx makes good on it.
Has anyone ever had to deal with this situation?
Any input?
I hope you all have a strong stomach to look at the carnage...Mine is still churning.
