Don't mean to threadjack, but could one of you with some knowledge of these handguns tell me anything about this one. My grandfather brought it back from WWII and gave it to me many years ago.

Thanks in advance for any information.

This is my first time posting pics, so I hope it worked.

Looks like a nice matching AC43 (Walther factory) - it is a great bring-back - any markings in the holster? Honestly you should start a new thread, and show pics of the holster and spare mags, and close-ups - it is not fair to post in another guys thread, really

Nice and original. I don't know enough if that is a Luger holster or P38. Probably worth $600 plus with holster

I think the P38 is a wonderful shooter. I have a BYF42 and shoot it occasionally. Yours is probably worth $400 to $600. I am not sure how rare yours is. If refinished or a Russian capture it would be towards the lower end.
I bought mine in 1970s, it was a vet bring back. No import marks, not Russian capture, orginal finish almost perfect, all matching #s with original mag. I'll sell it :-)

You have a AC 43, a Wather pistol made in early 1943 wih a P08 luger holster. The holster will go for $200-250 and the gun about $800.

Sorry I didn't want to offend anybody just figured people in this thread would have some knowledge and they did. Thank you for all your replies.

I'm not looking to sell it, I was just curious about when it was built and any other info that could be gotten from the markings.

The holster has a tool in a pocket on the inside top. It only had one magazine with it.

Thank you all again and sorry "highpower" for posting in your thread.

Here's another Spreewerks P38. My son bought it when he was in Alaska a couple of years ago.

Pretty sure that r and * are capture marks. Again, no expert.

The OP's gun looks like it was not buffed, but that it was lightly pitted and dipped. I have a few WWII P-38's. Spreewerks are my favorite because of the rough machining and the fact that they were cranking them out while the Russians were rolling down the street. I have always wondered why, at some point, they didn't leave off the laynard loop to save time.
