Hello everyone,
I had some time today to pickup my newest addition, this No.4 Mk1T. My first C&R+COE cash and carry purchase.
My notes:
Rifle- All serial numbers matching that I can see. I haven't checked the butt stock serial number, it has a cardboard/fiber washer obscuring the large screw. I am trying to figure out a non destructive way to get it out. I tried a dental hook, no luck.
M47C on all small parts.
Scope and mount- mismatched to the rifle, but correct Mk.3 scope. Crystal clear optics and turrets function as they should.
All the stamps are there for a T rifle, minus the actual T. D6E stamped on left side of receiver next to bolt and on left hand butt socket, S stamped on receiver flat under bolt head (very difficult to see, can only see the bottom half of the S as the rest is covered with paint), TR on butt socket, S51 on bottom of butt stock.
No evidence of a T stamp.
The scope mounting pads are staked, and the finish is quite uniform.
Milled rear battle sight for scope clearance, and slight notch cut in fore end wood to clear bottom scope screw.
The end of the barrel is stamped "303 18.5 tons"
What are your thoughts as to the lack of the T stamp? Did the assembly worker possibly forget it, possibly covered in paint or is this a very convincing clone?
I can't wait to get it to the range! It will be coming with me to the January WEGC shoot to have a shootout with its rival, the PU.
Here are the pictures, please excuse my lack of photography skills.
