This is what the crest would look like.

The Yugo crest is kind of that standard commie bloc design in which some type of crop wraps around some kind of tool or in this case a fire. Tried and try, but standard.

I think the best looking crest on an M48 is the Syrian crest. I don't own one of the Syrian contracts, but wish I did so I could be closer to completing a Yugo Mauser collection.

Beautiful Mausers and congratulations! I remember you saying you wanted one, and it has come to you. What an excellent holiday "gift" to yourself

Nice rifles. Why are you calling the Czech a rework? They made them.

I think the big complaint about Mitchell's regarding M48's was they were overpriced, and the urban legend they spread around tried to make them sound more German than they really were.

            Thanks,

Beautiful Mausers... Well done and thanks for posting. When I had my C&R I went nuts with Lugers, G43s and K98s.. My first rifle was a BNZ 44 all matching for $75 back in 76 and I'll always have a soft spot for them. I can completely relate after seeing yours. Got a 9 power scope on my minty M48..

I agree and when they started adding runes and totenkopfs to the RC rifles I just had enough..

I have a 24/47 that the bottom thingies are opposite of the above 48A & 48. The top thingies that go to star are more pointy too.

The dislike of MMC is well deserved. The sales ads are misleading. What is especially dumb is that they are in Orange county but if you buy a Mauser from them their policy is to mail it to an FFL01, no direct sales, even though they are C&R eligible guns.

I bought this one from a private party, and it was still in the MMC box with all the accessory stuff inside and the phoney baloney certificate. I tossed that stuff in the garage and safed the rifle. My pics suck but it is admittedly a spectacular lookng rifle.

Yeah, your MMC looks really nice. I think Mitchell's M63 Tanker looks pretty cool too, but I don't want to spend $600 for one.

I see Samco has 24/52C. What is the difference between it and a 24/47 do you know?

24/52c is basically a Yugo VZ-24. A far less common Yugo variant and worthy of any Mauser collection.

24/52C's are refurbished Czech Vz.24 Mauser rifles. Along with K98s, the Yugoslavians captured loads of Czech made weapons and reworked them in the 1950s. Whereas 24/47's are refurbished M1924 Mausers which were the standard rifle of the Serbian Kingdom prior to WWII.

Oh ok that means the 24/52 has a little longer bolt then 24/47. Thanks

I'd add that most 24/52's, just like most VZ-24's, are mixmasters in. rough shape. $300 is a good price, worth looking into at Samco. My VZ-24 shoots great and has buttery smooth action. Typical BRNO quality.
