No need to wait. I called. He said that one charger per rifle was issued with a leather carry pouch. He said they were a phenolic resin type paper charger clip that held six rounds. he used his in most all exercises and kept it with his rifle at the end of his service. He had no idea how many times he used it.
My guess is that if only one was issued per rifle at a time, they were expected to last a while. No need to find a pre-60's Swiss soldier.

Im going to talk to this old guy anyway. He works like a swiss watch. Up at the same time every morning, eight hours at his office, still drives. His wife died, but he has like a live in Filipino nurse lady.
Huer is his surname. I bid the paint job on his house, but it was a little job so I passed to a younger painter I know. The old boy would talk your ear off though. I might go see if he wants to get a look at a Swiss rifle after all these years.
