    K31 stripper clips

Does anyone know a source? I see some on Ebay but the prices are really high. I only need a couple.
    Thanks

I've picked them up at gun shows, not too outlandish prices

If you find some, grab them while you can. They have become more elusive and expensive. I decided to forego the stripper clips because I scoped my K31 so I just load them one at a time. It also helps to slow yourself down for target practice.

I generally load one at a time with bolt rifles but this rifle is so cool I just want a couple. But ebay is like 4 for $75 and that is too rich for me.

The other question, to tack on to OP's thread, is there a reliable source for an extra K31 magazine? I talked to Simpson's and their answer was 'rarely' and call back on a regular basis. Pricing was also steep. Suggestions?

4 for $75?? Wow! I remember my Dad bringing in around 500 from Switzerland maybe 12 or 14 years ago and selling them for $1.00 each. $75 for 4. That's crazy.
And, yes. Guisan can fix you up with a magazine.

They work. Something of a rarity.

I bought a few from Glenn on this forum years back. One of them cracked a little bit and I glued that SOB back together. I don't think the Swiss ever meant them to be reusable.

i bought a box of them from a bargain bin for a few bucks each at an antique weapons/militaria shop in central zurich as recently as 2010.

even in switzerland they've gotten harder to find and expensive. keep em if ya got em.

SPS........ if youo don't think the Swiss meant the to be reusable, stop and think how old they are and how long they've lasted the original issue soldier and now being out on the market.

They are reusable, but were they designed that way?

I thought they were meant to be discarded. That was pretty common wasn't it?

I can think of a lot examples of clips and mags that were meant to be tossed after being used.

The fact that they still exist in a useable form is a testament to their construction not necessarily the designers intent.

The next guy I meet that went through basic training in Switzerland pre 1960, Ill ask. I did a job for an elderly man from Switzerland but we didn't get a chance to talk about guns. He's in his 80's but sharp. Ive been meaning to call and talk to him again.

Id like to get an ammo pouch to carry them. I should have bought one when they were cheap..

Not hard to get an answer. My Dad's neighbor is Rene XXXXXX, in his late 70's and was in the Swiss Military. His issue rifle was a k31 when he began and then a stgw90 after that. I'll be out there next week and I'll ask.

No need to wait. I called. He said that one charger per rifle was issued with a leather carry pouch. He said they were a phenolic resin type paper charger clip that held six rounds. he used his in most all exercises and kept it with his rifle at the end of his service. He had no idea how many times he used it.

My guess is that if only one was issued per rifle at a time, they were expected to last a while. No need to find a pre-60's Swiss soldier.
