M44 Scale

$200 1943 at recent Reno gun show. Just lucky had no idea it was rare until I came home.

Those rubber butt pads never fit perfectly, but man oh man, what a difference it makes shooting the M44. The pads I bought looks like the one you have. The holes in them don't go all the way through, thus making it more solid and not as cushioned as I wanted. I just drilled all the way through each hole.

I just passed on a $135 Hungarian. In ok shape but had a cheap Chinese scope and a rubber buttpad both were easily reversible. I rarely to never see nice Hungarians or Romanians. So nobody has any non import marked m44's or m38's?

I think all my M44's are import marked. But I'm not sure about my M38's I'll have to check. Most Mosins I have ever seen have the import mark. I few of mine have the older stamped importation marks, not the dot matrix ones that shout for attention on the side of the receiver.

There are mint unissued Polish M44's floating around. Typical high quality Radom built and can fetch $500 or more. I am fortunate to have found one recently.

I sold one for $475. I hated to see it go but I tripled my money on it and I knew that I could never shoot it.
