The only ones that are rarer are the ones for the 1917 and the moisin-nagant.

It is easy to find MK1 1903's. However, I have never seen an actual Pedersen device for sale.

I like Jerry Miculek. Who is this other guy? Is he a vet, or some sort of grad student / theorist / reenactor type?

I do have a MK 1 springfield, built for the pedersen but the special trigger/ sear has been replaced --

The M1 carbine is such a light and handy weapon, that it would almost be feasible to have one slung on your back to supplement your 1903. For the period it was the ideal CQB weapon.

I agree, except the Pederson Device was developed at the end of WWI (ie "US Automatic Pistol, Caliber .30, Model of 1918"), whereas the Ordinance Department wasn't even petitioned to design a carbine until 1938. And it was n't till late 1941 that the design was approved.
