That's cool. I know people do it with water. How was that done? That nail thingy?

I am guessing you feel for the hole with the tool then tap it out with a hammer? Nice touch, sure beats hydraulic decapping. Planning on converting these cases to boxer, or are you just gonna get some of that Tula berdan primers to reload the cases? I guess once you have it decapped, it's pretty much the same thing as reloading for boxer cases. GP11 is a real candidate for the effort of decapping berdan since that brass is top notch.Comment

Can't imagine why you'd be so opposed to this. The reason for me is that trying to find specific information in the reloading forum is kinda like trying to get a straight answer from DOJ. There's so much BS floating around in there it's frustrating. If we had our own section here in C&R, it'd be a lot more likely to be read, and responded to, more often.
To those who don't like this idea, that's fine, but don't act like we're asking for the world here. We've lived without it this long, I'm just saying it would be nice to have a less muddied stream where we can exchange notes, and a lot less reloading trolls too. Anyone here who's read the reloading forums knows what I'm talking about. It'd be nice to have less "my brand is better than your brand" and more "this load worked well for me, reduce it a little and work up 'til you find your sweet spot".
I like to think of our c&r forum as something of a community, where most of us are allies because we share a common interest. Sure there's a few trolls and just downright unpleasant people but thankfully, that is not the majority. This would be just another area that brings us closer together.Comment

Once bitten by the C&R ... it opens up the entire world of collecting not only C&R ... but antiques too. Reloading is very fun and a must for the antique stuff.
It would be very nice to be able to post questions and howto for C&R and antique reloading.Comment

Yup, thats basically it in a nutshell.I am guessing you feel for the hole with the tool then tap it out with a hammer? Nice touch, sure beats hydraulic decapping. I dinked around with hydraulic decapping , it works on some but not on a well crimped primer. The overpriced rcbs pry tool just seemed, well overpriced and overengineered.
Saw a few guys that did a similar decapping tool. Mine is just a 6" nail cut in half. Drilled a 1.2mm hole off center and used the cut drillshank in there. Put case in shellholder, probe for the flash hole, and tap tap tap the primer is out. So easy a caveman can do it.
Works in all cases it fits into. There are some berdan cases with 1mm flashhole. I made a 0.8mm tool for those, a bit more touchy. When primer is removed i drill the flash hole to 1.2 mm to make it easier the next time.
That nice German 7.62 brass takes a standard Large Rifle Berdan that is .217 dia. I don't do 7.5 but i believe the GP11 is .217 Berdan as well
The 7.62x39 takes a .217 berdan that is slightly shorter than the large rifle type

Is it possible to drill out for boxer primed? Would you loose structural integrity of the rim if it was done?
Just a thought of mine. Never heard of it done, but have just started reloading... well... depriming, hahaMarch 29- April 5, 2019- The Million Mag March. Thank you, Judge Benitez and all the vendors

I don't see the difference between a mosin reload and a 223... or a tokarev and s&w 40. Same knowledge, same pitfalls... same powders...Can't imagine why you'd be so opposed to this. So why divide the knowledge? Why make another forum?Last edited by sl0re10; 11-06-2014, 6:50 PM.Comment

That type of conversion will only work in a .254 berdan primer cup. Typically what is in a 7.62x54 cartridge. Ive done it, it actually works great but few people will go through the trouble.
Hahaaha thats kinda funny ... yup no difference at allI don't see the difference between a mosin reload and a 223... or a tokarev and s&w 40. Same knowledge, same pitfalls... same powders...
have you ever loaded a 7.62x25?

^^^^ What Knucklehead0202 said times 10.....Why sift through the reloading BS for hours (and maybe not getting any closer to a decent answer) when you can find somebody knowledgeable in a few minutes?
