Shda5582 is going to appeal for the calguns guns. I woke up late and was to lazy to drive out. I also spoke to baboosh and he said he would attend the meeting as well. If they dont allow steal we wont be able to use hos maxim anymore

Steel jacketed and core ammo is now forbidden on SoCal BLM land as well. As if it matters as most of SoCal BLM is closed to shooting right now anyhow. Not too many places left I can think of where this ammo can be shot.

Great shoot as always, good to see the regular as usual too. I am pleased with the performance of the target stand, though it looks like the bolt holding up the plate got chewed up near the front due to some hits, but at least that's an inexpensive part to replace, and I have multiple spare replacements in my range bag in case it fails under fire. We will have to see how the design holds up over the next few months, of course!

FN-49 also performed great with the new extractor. Last month, it was slipping off of rims because the old extractor was getting a hangnail grip on the extractor grooves of the cartridges, so sometimes it would slip, and this would happen more as I turned up the gas on the gun, so I couldn't do that last month. So far with the new extractor and spring, it's been working well. Got a few failure to lock open on last shot, as well as one stovepipe, but that will be rectified by turning up the gas more, which I think I can now that I have the new extractor. I expect this gun will be coming out to the range more often!

That was fun Nice to catch up with you guys again before I get sucked back into baby land

I ended up staying til almost 2- but I gave up on trying to get good groups out of the AR when the wind kicks up. 3 shots touching, and one an inch right, and another 1/2" right and an inch down kind of ruins it
It was a ghost town there after you guys left.

I'm glad nothing blew up today, including the experimental trapdoor loads

Turned out my L806 mount was a bit loose on the MAS 49/56, which explains why it looked like it wanted to turn in a good group, but then POI would shift a couple inches up or right, etc. I have a shim here somewhere which should make it work a bit better.

Today was a great day as usual. It's always nice to see everyone and what toys they brought. I ended up with a nice bruise on the back of my left hand from balancing the butt of the rifle on it while shooting and getting a few whacks from the sling swivel. It's not too bad, but washing my hands doesn't feel so good. LOL

Thanks Adam for letting my shoot your Ljungman and Arisaka, that was a first for me with both rifles. I'm thinking the Ljungman needs to be added to my ever growing list. Finally got to see Aaron's K31 sawtooth bayonet. That thing is much larger than I imagined, but very cool looking. I wouldn't want to be facing that thing during a bayonet charge!

Woke up at about 9 and decided it was easier to stay home. Cheaper too!

                Maybe next month.

That's good, having as many full members there as we can get to support our cause can only help, right?

Sorry I missed out today. Had some last minute drama and ended up going this evening. Had the place all to myself then which is nice but then you don't get to fondle everyone else's stuff either.

I'll be at the meeting on Tuesday as well.

Thanks to Adam Knucklehead for the 7.65 Mauser ammo. That is a sweet rifle. Almost no kick with your reloads. It is almost as fun to BS with the guys as it is to shoot.

thank you all for speaking for us.

was going to apply for full membership. but won't now, as this ban will be looming. I would hate to pay $500 for the first year (1/2 is initiation fee) and find out can't shoot most of the ammo I've already stocked.

Crisis averted for the time being. We had a good discussion and good points made by all. No change in policy at this time. Board will be reviewing some of the relevant data and probably bring it up again at next meeting.

Although Ronin2 and I disagree on this particular issue, he presented his opinion well, his intentions are good, and I commend him for his passion and dedication. The Board and other members in attendance were also quite accommodating and willing to listen. shda5582 was also allowed to speak and apparently the assumption that limted members are not allowed to speak is incorrect.

One of the key points of discussion was a study recently conducted by the Forest Service regarding this very issue. Below is a link to the pdf of that study if you're interested. The highlighted portions are the points that I presented at the meeting.

Interesting stuff about the bullet fragment study, apparently solid copper bullets are the worst in potential ignitions!

Maybe so but at least endangered buzzards don't go around eating them and dying
