I use a plastic automotive transmission funnel and insert it into the chamber and sling my rifle over a chair with the muzzle down over a bucket, then I pour a gallon jug of hot soapy water mixed with dishwashing soap down my bore, then I put some more liquid soap on a cleaning brush and pass it through my bore several times then rinse with more hot water using the transmission funnel, then I use a dry patch to wipe out the residue, then spray some WD40 down the bore to displace moisture.

I always leave my rifle out for a week so there is no chance of any moisture left in my rifle before putting it back in the safe, if you put your rifle back in the safe too soon before all the moisture is dried, you risk rusting.

Don't make the mistake I made and use Hoppes alone.

I always dump boiling water down the bore when I get home. After that I follow up with some solvent and oil. Never had any problems.
