Fixing a slightly bent bayonet.

Whatever swiss soldier had this K31 bayonet before used it for a prybar.

About halfway down the blade it's a little bent, making the metal get torn up going in and out of the scabbard.

is there a safe way to straighten it?

It's just a random K31 bayonet, nothing special. But the bend bothers my OCD.

I repaired a jacked up Japanese bayo a friend gave me my bending it with my hands.

Use a broomstick on a workbench and press down to bend it. Mine turned out pretty well considering how buggered it was.

My K31 bayo had a nice big bend in it too.

I just wedged it under the bookcase and bent it back straight. It worked out okay.

How much force did you use? I've bent this past straight the opposite way a few times, but it isn't staying.

I wedged it under the bookcase then bent it straight and set a wood block under the blade and went to town on it. Slowly increasing the pressure and bending it farther and farther.

I bent it past straight in the opposite direction and set the block under it and let it sit like that for a couple hours.

I hope that makes sense.

Yup. Mine too. I think thats about as good as you'll get it by hand.

Mine is matched to the rifle it came with. I didnt want to mess with it to much. It was sticking in the scabbard though. I didnt want to get caught short if I have to do a bayonet charge.
