I pretty much quit buying after the 1st. If there's something that's a killer deal and I absolutely have to have it, yeah i'll probably go to the trouble, but I'm not gonna bother with an 03/coe because you still get boned by the state and have to register it to boot. Kinda defeats the purpose you ask me. Meanwhile, outside California, most of these things still sell for normal prices. Only things I bought this year was my Ruger lc9 and 2 Swedish rifles we just couldn't pass on. Mighta paid a little too much but how often do Ljungmanns pop up for sale locally?Comment

It could be that the group of people who want a Garand either have one or are not shooting much.
I Don't know of any coworkers who have on or have any interest in one
A lot play video games and want a modern cool gun... Not a ww2 relic.
Most younger shooters want an m4- the metro sexual Barbie accessory rifle.
If they don't have the budget- SKS
Of those who are Garand owners, when was the last time you saw someone under 40 or 30 who purchased a Garand???Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

Hey now, I'm 34, and bought both of my Garands before I finally decided to "build" my AR, and the AR I did build is more an A2 throwback. I purchased both Garands through the CMP.It could be that the group of people who want a Garand either have one or are not shooting much.

when i got my Garand i thought WOW i finally have one. After shooting and cleaning it a few times i admitted to myself that it was not as much fun to shoot as i expected. historically it is very special for sure. Take away the history i would rather shoot other rifles. i kept making excuses for not shooting it. bottem line i could clean my bolt rifles [ 1903 and 1917 ] in much less time and shooting them is more fun for me. If i want to waste a full clip shooting i will do it with my SKS for 1/4 the cost.
i am sure plenty of you love shooting the Garand more than i do.I have sold off most of the guns i do not shoot , looking at them and not shooting them is not for me.Comment

Three or four of my shooting friends (between 30 and 40 yrs) have Garands -
I know two lurk here, lol.
100% inspired by Call of Duty/Band of Brothers - yup.
Although youtube episodes of Combat are quite popular, too.
They nearly all start out with M4 lego guns with rubber-chicken accessories, though.Pitfighter.

I agree 100%Pistols have their place. I enjoy pistols as much as I enjoy rifles.
On my own observations with C&R prices, I must admit I was expecting prices to drop significantly after January 1st, 2014. Asking prices in the classified forum have been the same as panic 2013 prices or have gotten higher, but no one seems to be buying at the inflated prices. With cash and carry over for non C&R/COE holders I was really expecting prices to come back to normal pre 2013 panic prices. It does feel like a buyers market right now however. Nothing really seems to be moving unless it is a good deal or a fair price.Comment

Take any 20 something old to the range with a plastic fantastic and an M1 Garand. Few will like the AR better to shoot than the good old M1. .223 is pretty boring to shoot compared to .30-06 and who doesn't love the ping? I've done it half a dozen times and all of the young ones want an M1 or bought one. Shooting is believing. I like my ARs but they are toys compared to the Garand.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

I certainly agree with Capy....I like my ARs....but they really feel like toys next to a garand. I'm not downplaying the AR, the garand is just in a completely different class. I also feel the same way about my M1 Carbines. Although comparable in size, that's about it.-ChadComment

Very well said, I totally agree. My Garand gets shot first, SKS second, AR third and the pistol 3rd.Take any 20 something old to the range with a plastic fantastic and an M1 Garand. When I go to gun store they're buying rifles not pistols. Not a pistol market now.
AR's aint no one scrambling to a private party to buy one.
Like i said if you cant wait and dont want go through CMP youre gonna pay.
Let me ask does anyone think an AR is a high powered compared to the Garand? Maybe theres a distinction.Comment
