I was looking at the private long gun sales and some nice garands are not selling at reasonable prices. Plenty of sellers.

I totally agree on the high prices. I got mine a price I couldn't refuse. I too looked at places like GB and guys get them for 625 then flip em for 1100 or more, some lower. Lots guys build them too. Buy one for parts then put the parts in their Garand and sell the other. Im on the CMP waiting list like others. Going to the CMP forums you can learn a lot about the mix masters there. Those are the reasonable priced ones. Still very high though.Last edited by peppermintman; 08-13-2014, 3:25 PM. Reason: used to be buy one in lifetime, now you see guys buying fiveComment

I am sure that is the case, but to me pistols are tools. Even having carried a pistol basically 24/7 for the last 15 years, I don't get excited over them. I shoot to maintain proficiency and that's it. I find Garands, K98's, and SKS's much more interesting.Comment

Agree with Baboosh.
Remember how hot C&Rs were the last two months of last year, then you couldn't give them away for the first two months of this year?
I think everybody is thinking about pistols (SSE) and ammo (SB 53) right now.GREATER SACRAMENTO AREA REALTOR

Agreed. SSE door is closing and unless we win Pena vs. Cid, eventually there will be no new handguns a Californian can buy. As far as SB53, I would say we are at about 50/50 on whether Brown will sign it. Of course, if he does, at least for the time being, most of us with FFL03 + COE will be exempt if I read the bill correctly, but still it totally sucks. Things are quiet for C&Rs right now but there are still plenty of them changing hands and plenty of interesting guns out there for us. Just like Bobby, pistols are merely a palate cleanser for me in between shooting rifles and shotguns. I like them but rifles are much more interesting to me too.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

Am i one of the few that does not get excited over pistols. I watch most shooters at 25 yards miss the target completely with a pistol. I just do not find them fun. Somebody does the Pistol forum is always the busiest here.i guess personal defense is the reason. I will take a SKS for home defense myself.Last edited by NOTABIKER; 08-13-2014, 9:33 PM.Comment

Pistols have their place. I enjoy pistols as much as I enjoy rifles.
On my own observations with C&R prices, I must admit I was expecting prices to drop significantly after January 1st, 2014. Asking prices in the classified forum have been the same as panic 2013 prices or have gotten higher, but no one seems to be buying at the inflated prices. With cash and carry over for non C&R/COE holders I was really expecting prices to come back to normal pre 2013 panic prices. It does feel like a buyers market right now however. Nothing really seems to be moving unless it is a good deal or a fair price.Comment

Are you telling me that I am not going to be able to instantly flip my craptactical rattle canned homespun frankenbuild parts gun operator class AR-15?
I built it with precision tools such as a flat head screwdriver, a rubber mallet, and electrical tape. I spared no expense in selecting the finest parts out of my spare parts bin. I was going to post it with some high end accessories such as the UTG red dot and Barska tac-light. I even jumped up and down on the polymer frame to make sure it won't break. The barrel has already been nicely broken in for the buyer with about 15K rounds of Wolf and Tula ammo through it from the last build it resided on.
I figure I'll post it at $1,500 with some wiggle room to negotiate down to $1,475 or so. My PM box will probably be full with offers within 15 minutes or so.Comment
