OK. you guys were seeing the "bottom of the barrel" on the hxp supply. Buuuut, if I read the e-mail correctly, this isn't the clipped stuff, it's spam cans of 12 boxes, with 20 rounds per box (or carton if you wish).

So is this still the dreaded signal you were seeing?

I fell off the fence last week and put luck of the draw a few line below the part number ordered. Ill just have to wait like everyone else though I do have one project Im working on The price of barreled receivers is unbelievable.

The pics of the warehouse shows crates with funny stenciling. What language is that?

        Sales Update - 5/6 Aug 2014

        --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following information will also be sent to all email subscribers.

M1 GARAND SERVICE GRADE - Effective immediately Service Grade M1 Garand rifles manufactured by Springfield Armory (RM1SAS) and Harrington & Richardson (RM1HRAS) will be combined into one item number – RM1SERVICE. Orders will be filled on a “luck of the draw” basis with the next rifle that becomes available in either manufacturer. One reason for the change is that we can no longer predict within a reasonable amount of time how many M1s of these manufacturers will grade out as service grade during our inspection and repair process. The other major reason for the change is that most of our customers are only concerned with the grade of the rifle and not the manufacturer. Customers may still indicate their preference on the order form and we will fill the request if possible at the time the order is processed for shipment. Orders already received will be honored as to manufacturer. We currently have open orders for over 1,800 RM1HRAS. Customers who have placed orders for RM1HRAS who are willing to accept an RM1SAS should email custserve@thecmp.org at this time.

M1 GARAND FIELD GRADE – Effective immediately, Field Grade M1 Garand rifles manufactured by Springfield Armory (RM1SAF) and Harrington & Richardson (RM1HRAF) will be combined into one item number – RM1FIELD. Orders will be filled on a “luck of the draw” basis with the next rifle that becomes available in either manufacturer. One reason for the change is that we can no longer predict within a reasonable amount of time how many M1s of these manufacturers will grade out as field grade during our inspection and repair process. The other major reason for the change is that most of our customers are only concerned with the grade of the rifle and not the manufacturer. Customers may still indicate their preference on the order form and we will fill the request if possible at the time the order is processed for shipment. M1 GARAND PRICE INCREASES – Effective 7 August, 2014 the price of the Springfield Armory and Harrington & Richardson Service Grade M1 is increased to $695. The price of the Springfield Armory and Harrington & Richardson Field Grade M1 is increased to $595. Orders currently on hand or received prior to 7 August will be charged the prices in effect prior to this increase.

HXP .30-06 AMMUNITION NOW AVAILABLE IN SPAM CANS. Spam cans of HXP .30-06 are now available for purchase. The spam cans contain 240 rds packaged in cartons of 20rds, 12 cartons per can. Its not all that rosey. CMP will go on for many years promoting shooting sports but the Garands are coming to a end as is the ammo.
There may be some trickle in from time to time but the good ole days are coming to end.
The director of operations has stated this before

Never said it was rosy, or anything about the end of Garand sales being on the horizon.

Neither fact is related to Orest's statement about clipped spam cans being the last of the HXP to be sold, and that the announcement today wasn't that.

Regardless, after Garands and HXP are both gone, CMP will still exist to perform both its primary mission of promoting civilian marksmanship AND its secondary ability to sell certain types of firearms and ammunition deemed surplus to DoD inventories.

I'm glad I got my order in when I did, but now that the Field grades are opened up again, I am contemplating putting in another order for one of those as well

IIRC, the Service Grades are coming with new stocks, but you can request USGI wood if you want.
I try not to solicit advice and then go the opposite way anyway, but the fact that I hemmed and hawed through a SG price increase was the decider. I splurged on the CMP Special in 30-06' and requested an HRA gun if possible.

I figured that I have three Springers, one of which is a service grade equivalent GREAT range gun, one is a minty rebuild with a mix of Beretta parts and Danish barrel, and one that is (I think) just about all correct in awesome condition which I may never shoot.

This new rifle will sacrifice collectibility but I have that covered on the others. A new walnut stock and a new barrel and freshly reparked parts sounds like just the ticket for a range / heirloom gun.

I am keeping note of this thread because I mailed out the packet today and the wait times for these are quoted as 30-60 days as opposed to 2-6 months for the SG.

Oh, and I hope I can afford to order a field grade too before they run out. Might end up with a gem!

So when did they stop selling clipped spam cans?

I still have a couple unopened cans, but like what was said earlier, PPU garand ammo, hard to beat.

"Bubba" is what he and his ugly and ruined rifle really are.
First you are chopping up historic vintage rifles and sticking them in cheap and nasty looking plastic "dildo" stocks that look like some kind of futuristic sex toy that gay space aliens stick up each other's butts.
Next thing you know, you think "Deliverance" is a love story.

I put my order number in last week lets see what I get. I wrote down "luck of the draw" on application then emailed Cathie and mentioned I wanted USGI walnut stock. I dont like the pumpkin colored beerch stock color. But see what they give me, Springfield or HRA. Either way when I get my pure tung oil and refinish my IHC I have something to use in the meantime.
Pumpkin color beerch wood is what they call it on the CMP forums. Good luck to everyone that recently ordered. I hope it gets in the mail quickly 'cause I hate waiting http://forums.thecmp.org/showthread....8081&page=1010
HRA's getting shipped pretty good but the Springfields taking longer.
