emcom5 can have C&R's mailed to NV and only pay the $20 FFL to FFL transfer fee. I have the same deal, looks like they also give you a 3% discount if you pay with a check or cash.

Actually, I am a NV resident now, I can have them shipped direct to my door.
Modern guns need to go to a FFL, but I got a buddy who will do the transfers for free on modern guns. I just need to pay $25 for the state background check, and that is only for the next few weeks, until my concealed carry permit gets here (took the class 2 weeks ago, current turnaround from the county is about a month I hear). NV waives the background check for CCW permit holders.

Some of those German Mausers look like they may be OK deals, if they go for under $300.

Looks like most of the Soviet capture German Mausers sold for the price they were at before the auction, low $200s mostly. There are a couple

65 % of the items that I was "watching" sold to "on site" bidders. Remember you are bidding against not only the people "onsite" but 1000's of people across the nation and elsewhere.

Somebody paid $900 for a S&W M651, smoking deal? Pricey BUT he found what he was looking for and now I know where mine stands value (actually more, mine has the factory box, accessories and a factory fitted 22lr cylinder that is still in the factory wrap) and desirability wise.

Same thing with that H&R M999 Sportsman 4in bbl, somebody paid $700 for the one at auction and now I know what mine might fetch at auction and possibly more due to the fact mine is Factory new in box with paperwork


The 2 best "deals" of the things I was watching was the Stevens Ranger at $85 and the Mossberg New Haven shotgun for $100, twice what theMossberg cost new back in the 1950's.

I print out the auction results for the items I watched or have in my possession to know what the current market value maybe. Gunbroker and such sites aren't always the last word incurrent prices.

I'm surprised such a large amount sold on site but it played out about like I figured it would. That area has some well to do old rich guy collectors. Proxibid imo made auctions a sellers market. The reason some Russian captures went cheap is they had a large amount of them they have been trying to sell I think they glutted the market most were kind of rough too.

This auction house seems to get large amounts of one type of gun and then it takes a long time for them to sell them off they had piles of Swiss rifles at one time. The 651 did well probably partly due to CA premium. 4In 999's are scarce so that explained that plus Sportsman/999 revolvers have been going up.

It is true this can help you establish real world pricing but I still prefer Gunbroker for pricing info. Most realistic is averaging out COMPLETED SALES over a period of time. Problem with only using one item is not knowing if it was auction fever or 2 guys not stopping bidding due to pride.

I've been to many auctions and of course I've seen things go abnormally low and abnormally high. So did anyone actually buy anything?

I used to get some pretty good deals on Proxibid a few years ago... then people started posting up links in Forums telling everyone about the auctions.

I understand it is a nice gesture to share the info, but if the OP was planning to bid on the auction, it seems kind of counterproductive to advertise it

I don't know if they issue the internet " bidders paddle numbers" in sequence or not I signed up the first day the auction was posted and my number was 150x so there were at least some thousand plus potential bidders already signed up the first day and certainly at least one of them was looking at the same items I was watching. During the live auction if the bid went to my limit for that item I quit bidding, quite simple I don't get caught in the "auction fever" no hard feelings no regrets, bring on the next item!
Not everyone has heard of or used Proxibid or the auction houses they represent so I felt it was productive to post for fellow Calgunners especially collectors that might be looking for something they haven't been able to find anywhere else. Counterproductive? Nope the biggest wallet/desire will win anyway. I don't mind bidding against someone else, if I get out bid so be it.
Allowing people another resource to look for items was my intent.

I sometimes like to bid anyhow even if I lose it makes my competition pay more in some cases might make them spend all their money so they can't outbid me on items later on. Lately I haven't been bothering with proxibid auctions though. Kind of gave up on Lil Jon auctions for most part. I still do this Irvine one sometimes.
