LA to Denver road trip, where should I look stop and look for?

I will be making a road trip from Los Angeles to Denver in August.

Any suggestions on places I should stop and look for black powder pistols, rifles and even a milsurp along the way?

    My destination is Golden, Colorado.

My route is LA via I-15 to Las Vegas and then I-40 into Denver.

I can divert my flight plan.

    thanks

If you take I-15 to Vegas you would have gone about 135 miles past I-40.

Also, I-40 doesn't go to Colorado.

Are you sure you're going to Colorado?
      Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I know of two C&R in Denver.
        A few goodies at: http://www.scottiesgunsdenver.com

According to their gun broker auction - they are actually selling everything - http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=429893401

Ha, I was just thinking the same thing. I-40 will put you in Oklahoma City, I-70 will get you to Denver. I don't know of any BP places to check out, but if your destination is Golden CO, you should tour the Coors brewery. It an interesting tour that only takes about an hour and they have a nice sampling room where you can try all of the different beverages they make.

I40 to I25 north out of Albuquerque puts you into Denver through Santa Fe and Colorado Springs.

Go visit the Wyatt's @ Gunsmoke in Wheat Ridge

Blackhawk is a pretty nice place to visit, as is Central City and Georgetown, if you're going to be touring. Kind of reminds me of California's Gold Country.

I've made the trip from CA to CO quite a few times, looking for C&Rs along the way. I found it was a waste of time to look too hard in the small towns, as the best stuff was either in Denver or Colorado Springs. COS was actually really a gem, as there were something like 30+ pawn shops in that city, due to the 5 military bases in the area.

                    Enjoy your trip!

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

There are some nice houses in Nevada you could visit.

If you have never stop at Lake of Fire just North of Vegas on I15. I stop in to just look at the fireworks.

Salina and Green River UT are interesting stops. Get a pic at the Deethstar sign it is laughs.

You want to drive from Grand Junction to Denver in the day so you can see all the sights.
Stop in Vail and Georgetown to see the sights.

My original route is via Santa Fe (North on I-25). I'll return on I-70 and I-15.

BTW, I am from Golden, Colorado and have a sense of state.

Thanks to all of you for the recommendations. Yes, COS does have many pawn shops.

Some good stuff at Scheels in sparks nv. They have a small section of old shootin sticks in the back room. Lots of ammo and components at reasonable store prices.
