I shot my Garand for the first time the other day and the 7th round fails to feed into the barrel fairly often. The round jams to the left of the barrel. Does anyone have any info on this. Thanks.

How many different clips were you using? Did you use a different clip each time or were you reloading a few clips over and over again?__________________

I had random FTFs with some cheap, French clips. Replaced them with CMP clips and my Garand has been a happy camper since then with no issues. Might be your clips, the Garands are a bit finicky about the quality of the en blocs.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

Well, at least you have the good clips.
Are they really tight? I pulled on mine to help loosen them up and they fed better after I did that. I never experienced the problem you are having though. I wonder if one of the original parts is worn enough that it could cause this issue.

Mine did the same, not sure if it was 7th rnd but happened a few times. I also had a couple throw out a spent shell and a live rnd in one motion. Anyone have that happen? I figured it was my clip loading technique. Does loading to the right or left matter?Comment

Although AEC are decent clips and should work, just to make sure it is not the clips since you are only using two, try some USGI like SA, Borg Warner or International Silver. If that don't work, replace the op rod spring with Orion 7. That should solve the majority of the FTF. Should that fail, start replacing the little parts within the receiver that affect timing. Just my $0.20.Comment

Loading to right or left is for your preference on which hand (thumb) you use to load the clip, you just want to make sure they are all seated properly. You may notice a series of punctures on a stock from GI's tspping them to seat them. My step dad said they used to also tap them against there helmet before loading
One of mine ejected a live round with the spent a few times. The bullet guide was out of spec and a replacement seemed to solve that glitch. But I also replaced all of the springs and follower rod which was bent and also causing a short stroke.
