    CADOJ Incompetence?

Just received my verification letters from the DOJ on three C&R pistols I bought out of state this year so far.

    1. My Romanian TTC. They truncated the serial number by one digit and list the make as RU, which I suspect is Russian, not Romanian. I checked my forms, they are very clearly printed so it wasn't sloppy handwriting.

    2. My CZ50, they got the serial number right but list the Make as "FOZ" instead of "CZ". So I guess my my CZ was made by Fozzy Bear?

    3. The P64, they actually got it all correct!

This State! Guess 1 out of 3 is about the expected competence ratio for California Bureaucrats?

Not surprising. I sent in one a few years ago for three C&R pistols I bought out of state. Got nothing in return. Just remembered the other day when I was looking through my files. Got a verification letter for one I bought just last year, but not for the three from a few yeards ago.

May need to check in to that and see if they ever did in fact register them to me.

That's interesting. My CZ82 had FOZ listed under the make as well. Maybe in an internal code? My TTC came back with RMC as the make.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

And if there is ever a question, YOU will likely be blamed for the error.

This is why I keep a photocopy of the self registration form that I mailed in along with their verification letter. Anyone else notice that they are still sending out the old verification form letter for pistols even when you are registering rifles and shotguns.

I will give the state credit, the form I sent had a $19.00 charge per pistol, I sent $57.00 for the three pistols and a month later they sent me back a check for the $38.00. So the law now is $19.00 per form? Does this apply to C&R pistols and long guns?

Interesting link about the FOZ thing, thanks! I'm not going to sweat it, I did my part. If the state screws these up (truncating the TTC serial number), that's their problem, not mine. I have the gun and a copy of the form I sent.

Yeah, same here, they made CZ into a "FOZ". We'll see what they turn the Romanian TTC into, haven't gotten that form back yet.

$19 per form is better than before. Having to register guns is wrong.

Yes, you can register as many as you want for $19.00. I registered 5 at one time, I just attached another form and they processed it.

I couldn't agree more Nick, having to register is dead wrong, having to pay the state for the punishment of having to register is that much more wrong.

CADOJ or Ministry of Information? I don't see much difference...
