C&R renew? should I?

I got my renewal papers this week. The changes to C&R came as a surprise to me just recently. I'm not too clear on what has changed but it sounds like a C&R license (especially in CA) is pointless?
Is there any reason to renew?

It says if I'm NOT renewing, to "return this application and your firearms records within 30 days of discontinuance of your business". What exact records do they want? I've purchased one P-64 with my C&R.

I do not have a COE (no idea what that even is)
Doing a search, some guys said to just let the license expire rather than filling out a form and submitting documents to cancel it?

you do not send C&R bound book to anyone. I will not renew mine next year as it is pointless in California. 01 FFL and others send books in.

That depends on you.

Do you travel OOS often? You can still buy stuff OOS and bring it home with you.

Some companies are still giving an 03 C&R FFL discounts. Do you buy stuff from these companies?

The Certificate of Eligibility (COE) will let you have ANY C&R Long Gun shipped to your house regardless of age.

The COE will let you take delivery of a C&R handgun or long gun from a 01/07 FFL in CA without having to wait 10 days; you still have to pay the DROS fee though.

I would consider another P-64 or a possibly a Mosin. other than that, I'm not really a C&R guy. Never go out of state.

Even long guns have to register though an FFL with transfer fees now?
Where do you register with COE? Whats that cost?

eh, I let mine lapse last year; just dont see the point to it. And no, you do not have to send in your bound book.

I don't get the "having a C&R in California is worthless" rhetoric? I've had mine for two years and I buy C&Rs a lot both locally and out of state. Sure, more hassle and money this year than previously but the benefits to me still outweigh the negatives. Do it.

Oh man. Just looked at COE application and fees. Eat me CA! Way too much to MAYBE pick up a Mosin and save the fee's.
I'm just not a collector. I'm not even looking to get firearms anymore. Just ammo for the ones I have.

What does a C&R without COE get you?

it only costs $10/year to maintain my 03, and $22/year to maintain my COE. even if I am not planning to "use" them, for the $32/year that I spend on keeping the 03+COE active is worth it to me.

FFL03 without COE means you can buy C&R out of state, that's it. I travel usually half a dozen times a year on business so it's worth it to me. COE, as stated, is only $22.00 per year to maintain, totally worth it, although the new BS with PPTs is pissing me off. Fortunately I buy long guns F2F, usually buy C&R handguns out of state.

To me , it is worth it to have a C&R and a COE just to have long guns sent directly to me. Also, I travel out of state on business, and will surely end up picking up a few C&R guns that way.

hahahahaha. I did a search and I had a couple questions that werent covered.
If my wife let me spend more money on guns, I'd consider it. Doesn't look good though.
