      Ffl

[QUOTE=zperk;14197626]Oh man, I just called my LGS and they said it would cost $135 in taxes and FFL. Anyone know a C&R FFL holder in San Francisco that would be willing to do this for me for cheap?[

Mike Weiss in SSF is 50 + dros + tax

All the metal matches and the bluing I'd estimate at 80% or better. I disassembled it and dunked it in cosmo and am sweating the stock out. I should have it put back together by tomorrow.
Dunked it in Cosmo, eh? Your collection must be getting really big if you keep your own vat on hand, but I salute you for your preservationist inclinations.

The stock is more beat up than I would like, but it's still a really nice piece of wood. This thing is rock soid. No wobble in the gas tube, and the magazine, trigger and bayonet are tight and snappy. I was hoping for a Russian sneak gun or a Sino Soviet, but can't complain about getting this beauty of a ghost gun for $300ish.

I paid for all matching and hand select:

Does anybody know what this triangle cartouche is about?

Sounds like there are a lot of Sino-Soviets in this batch. I have Sino-Soviet and love it, it's my best shooter. Thanks to all for sharing!

Wow, if that's what hand select looks like. I wonder what my non-select will be ?

You never know. Since there's no requirement for matching numbers, they may have a mix-master winner to send you. Keep us posted.

My Chinese SKS does better than the Yugo and Russian.

                          Does what better?

Performance wise, they are all reliable and "combat" accurate. I'd say my Yugos are perhaps the most accurate. The Yugo is a beefy and heavy SOB and my personal favorite. The Chinese always shoot fine, and are a bit lighter than the rest. -1 to Chicoms for having softer wood stocks. There are endLess variants of the Chinese SKS, some being $$$$$$

It might be in my head but I hear a unique metallic clicking action sound when shooting the Russians and Romy. I don't hear it with any others.

All of the above is based on amateurish and non-scientific casual shooting!

Ahh the ghost gun! I got one of those today too. Tell me if this makes any sense:

                            100% matching Russian SKS
                            Import stamped "Jianshe Arsenal TG"
'49 Tula Dust Cover, everything else is 55/56 transitional (Star on receiver) and it is a letter gun too.
Everything matches, no EP or line outs.

                            WTH??

So your dust cover matches? I've seen a few like that, but the dust cover never matched on any of them. Sounds like the gun I was hoping for. Grats Bobbby.

Yep 49 dust cover matches exactly to the 55/56 receiver. I have no idea whazupwitdat.
