    ATF inspection

I drew the lucky C&R inspection stick this week! Just thought I'd report in.
It went really well agent was courtious & efficient, checked bound book, cross reference serial #s, & a brief overview of regulations. Nothing to sweat.

Was the inspection at the ATF office or at your C&R storage location?

Anyone know how often these are done? How long have you had your C&R?

Mine expires soon. For what it's worth, the agent told me they're trying to ramp up inspections in Cali.

edit: Also you can be inspected only once in a 12 month period.

Oh super, cuz we need more interaction with them...

On the up side, most C&R holders are all squeaky clean so we're easy to deal with.

O.K. can you take your bound book to thier office or do they want to see your collection?

How big is your collection? I only have three rifles purchased with my C+R. I think I'd rather take mine in.

Your bound book isn't bound is it? I just have a 3 ring binder.

I've never heard of anyone having to bring firearms into the ATF's offices. Just the bound book.

FWIW, a 3-ring binder setup is fine as a "bound book".

Is there anything you give the buyer? I purchased a Garand and a Carbine from two little old lady neighbors. They were my first purchases. Dude, I gave them written receipts, copies of my DL, and signed copies of my license. It felt so weird, I didn't know what to do, and I was trying to keep them at ease because they wanted to go to a regular FFL.

When setting up my appointment I asked about going to the ATF office. I was told I'd have to bring my firearms with me. They call it "inspection & examination". They will be accommodating to your schedule.

As said, 3 ring binder is fine. I downloaded the sheets from surplusrifle.com

Give the seller the money . Enter rifles in bound book. When (and if) You sell these weapons, You'll need the buyers drivers licsence (or other I.D.), date of disposition, date of birth of buyer, name & address of buyer. Now if the 2 little old ladies are 03 ffls, then yes they need your info for their book!
