Walking Dead mosin Nagant 91/30 ?

Anyone notice the Mosin Nagant in the episode "Us" yesterday?

One of the "claimers" used the bayonet to kill the walker stuck on the barded wire. Perfect weapon for the undead, stick 'em all in the head with the pointy end. No noise, no muss, no fuss.

It was an M44. My wife got pissed at me last night for interrupting and pointing that out.

Missed that scene, good catch. And yes, the M44 would be a pretty practical firearm for that particular apocalypse (there was a thread here recently discussing practicality of the M-N). Well, except for the weight. And the fact you probably wouldn't need something that powerful with that range, for humans or zombies (except for hunting).

Tyreese has an M1 Carbine, which really would be about perfect for that situation. Light, easy to shoot for head shots at close ranges when needed, suitable for hunting. But how about 30 carbine ammo after the apocalypse? Guess it depends on whether there had been an ammo/gun panic just before the plague struck ....

I always thought the little M 44 would be a great Zombie " Take Out " weapon

You can let them have it from both ends ( bayonet or steel buttplate ) with out fireing a shot

Then if you have to use a round ...get them single file ...go thru at least 4 or 5 in one shot !!!!

I got the eye roll and the dramatic sigh. I had to watch Property Brothers afterward. It wasn't really worth it even though the WD episode was pretty good.

This thread is a dupe of the one below:

FYI, it was a Type 53, not an M44 (unless it was a beat to hell Polish).

This season is def better than the previous two. Like how everyone is broken up in small groups with no safe house.

I knew it was a t53 not by the markings but how easily the bayonet swung out. The m44 requires you to lift the catch twice to deploy it. The t53 is ramped so after the first lift you can just swing it right out to lock open.

I play with my bayonets a lot.

impressive! Who is to say the director of the show knows what they are labeling the darn firearm as an m44.
