It was reasonably priced - so out comes the C&R and COE -
Get it home - to look at more closely.
1. Over polished matching numbers bolt.
2. the remains of what I think "might" be an X on the right side of the receiver.
3. Horribly mismatched stock parts -
4. Sanded stock.
5. No import mark anywhere, though -
I think someone bought an early Mitchell - replaced the butt-plate, and installed Lyman sights.
I'm going to remove the sights and slip it into a WW2 configuration stock, maybe trade out the bolt with a blued one - it will make a good movie gun.
