That's a beautiful Dane Bobby. I wonder if those Danish barrels are better than the US made stuff?

Sorry to Bogart this but I had to show this Garand I just got, a 1969 Tooele DCM lottery gun from 95, ME .4, TE 0:

looks like a nice M1. The barrel on mine was in pretty decent shape with the centruy, but I couldn't stand the receiver. It didn't even have the index marks for the elevation and windage settings.

That serial number looks to be around Oct/Nov 1944. Luv the 3 million receivers, I have an M1C in close proximity to that number.

Here's another Breda, I picked this one to keep (I had 4) because it wasn't a "kit gun" it's all "correct". Also a source I had some years ago that had been a Capt. in the Danish Army told us the Danes thought the Bredas were better machined then the Beretta made ones, kinda like the WRA's vs HRAs, and most of the Danish soldiers preferred the Bredas to the Berettas due to that perception. Back in "the day" I tried to get the ATF to declare the Breda and Beretta Garands as C&R's due to their relative rarity compared to the USGI issued Garands. Letters and info back and forth garnered a lot of wasted effort, about 5 months, I finally gave up. Now they are C&Rs due to the 50 year rule which wasn't in effect for them when they first started showing up in this country. GFCC in Sacramento, backdoor operation of Old Sacramento Armory, was importing the receivers and AIM another others were selling the complete "kits" without receivers, that's why if you find a Breda or Beretta Garand they may have different serial numbers on the wood and receiver. 3 of my Italian Garands were from this process. After some "education" I found a resource for complete handpicked Italian Garands and traded for one. I consider this one of the few real "scores" I've been lucky to come across and NOT sell off in my collecting/accumulating years.

                    Danish M1

Nice pics everyone! I got my Danish M1 from the CMP in 2000. It's a SA with mostly USGI parts and a VAR barrel. Paid $450 for a service grade, wish I had bought more! LOL! One of my favorites, because my Dad was born in Copenhagen! And of course it's a Garand!!!!
