    Here's a question -
M60 links, or Israeli 1919A4 links?

(They are quite different, the M60 links centering with a rim catch, the Israeli's resting towards the front of the cartridge with a smaller diameter hole for the neck, ALA the 30.06 1919 or Maxim - except they come apart upon ejection.)

    Or will either work?
These. M60 links will not work..

Nice find Pit! I love the look of the 1919, especially when they are mounted on the tripod stand. Did yours have an accompanying stand for it?

A little excitement, as this was revealed...
Tell the truth now, you squealed like a little girl on Christmas morning, I know I would have.
        Nice score Pit!

Yes, you can make an M60 link work but not well. The tail has to be cut off and the cartridge is held at the shoulder with only the second link loop. The first loop is up by the neck hanging in the wind and not really supporting anything. I hand-cycled 10 dummies through my A4 with these links and they all worked but I wouldn't want to bet my life on them.

Since you are using links I suggest you get one of the snap on covers for the trunion to stop wear from the links. I got mine on Gunbroker for $15 and after 1k rounds there is no appreciable wear on the cover.

Looks like there is a good 1919A4 support group here - thank you for the tips, and especially for the PM's with helpful links - much appreciated.

                The 1919A4 comes in at 1:06 -

The full auto was 30.06 rented from the now defunct Gibbons, in Burbank - all the close ups are my semi-auto 1919a4 in .308 (sad to say it actually looks pretty lame all these years later.)

Bill Guiette blank adaptor, Dean Wilkerson did the conversion - had to weld/braze the front spacers in place, so it cannot run live any more - I've wanted one that I could take to the range for a while.

                Pit.
Some mighty fine gunwork by Eric Roberts in that video. Well worth watching. Even armed with a 1919, few people would be able to break cover and hip shoot numerous bad guys returning fire from all directions, and not even be winged. The slow motion exploding body parts and over the top open mouthed facial expressions as the bad guys get shredded is classic.

Great. I just flung mine across the room yesterday. Gonna have to go find that story....

                    Very informative thread, DRH,

Thank you, for posting that link.

                    B. Ricigliano - lol, like I wrote - in an attempt to excuse it - it was an early work, lol.
The 1919 jacket doesn't heat up much at all, so hip shooting shouldn't be tough, but when he threw it away after the last take, he grabbed the booster cone (which does heat up!), and had to visit the ER, sloughed a bunch of skin off his palm. Also he's a Southpaw, so the charging handle bruised his hip pretty badly - it was a mess, and we almost burned down Spearmint Rhino, which made them unhappy - just another part of my misspent youth.

Great find. Now you just have to convert it to 54R so you can afford to shoot it and oh yeah, go find those 11 round belts you made up and left in your garage since 2000 (lol)

Yes - 7.62X54 would be cheaper than 7.62X51.

Thankfully, we have a considerable amount of pre-inquisition era PKM/Maxim belts.

                          And some gurt...

However - long nose 7.62 Russian blanks are more expensive than long nose 7.62 NATO - so, blanks-wise I am cheaper staying in .308.
If it can cycle short nose 7.62Russian blanks, then that is a DIFFERENT story, but I suspect it is unlikely.
